Besides Gemini 3.1 Flash Live<\/a> today, Google is rolling out the ability to import memory and chats into Gemini from other AI apps.<\/p>\n If you don\u2019t see a prompt, tap the \u201cSettings & help\u201d gear in the bottom-left corner for an \u201cImport memory to Gemini\u201d option.<\/p>\n This takes you to gemini.google.com\/import<\/a> where you have two options. \u201cImport chats\u201d lets you export your data from another AI app and then upload the .zip file (up to 5 GB) to Gemini. Google explicitly names ChatGPT and Claude, with users able to upload up to 5 .zip files per day.\u00a0<\/p>\n For\u00a0ChatGPT:\u00a0<\/p>\n \tAdvertisement – scroll for more content<\/p>\n Click on your username in the bottom left.<\/p>\n Click Settings and then Data controls.<\/p>\n Next to \u201cExport data\u201d, click Export and then Confirm Export.<\/p>\n For Claude:<\/p>\n Click on your username in the bottom left.<\/p>\n Click Settings and then Privacy.<\/p>\n Next to \u201cExport data\u201d, click Export.<\/p>\n Select the data range you want to export and then click Export.<\/p>\n A download link will be sent to the email associated with your account on the other AI platform.\u00a0<\/p>\n Imported chats will appear in the usual Gemini side panel, but are marked with an import chat icon. You can search and delete conversations as needed.\u00a0<\/p>\n To delete all the imported conversations in an import, find the import entry and next to the entry, click Delete. All imported chats within that .zip file will be deleted.<\/p>\n If you reupload a .zip file with your exported chats it will add any new conversations and overwrite previously imported ones.<\/p>\n Then there\u2019s the Import memory feature that involves entering the below prompt into another chat app and pasting the results into Gemini.\u00a0<\/p>\n Importing is currently not available in the EEA, Switzerland, or the United Kingdom.<\/p>\n You are helping me import context from one AI assistant to another.
