{"id":367099,"date":"2026-03-27T00:35:07","date_gmt":"2026-03-27T00:35:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/367099\/"},"modified":"2026-03-27T00:35:07","modified_gmt":"2026-03-27T00:35:07","slug":"they-went-on-ozempic-and-gave-up-on-life","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/367099\/","title":{"rendered":"They Went on Ozempic\u2014and Gave Up on Life"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In June of 2023, Kim Francis did something that 10 years ago would have been unimaginable, but is now <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rand.org\/news\/press\/2025\/08\/nearly-12-percent-of-americans-have-used-glp-1-weight.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">as American<\/a> as apple pie: She shot herself up with Ozempic, praying it would change her life.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy blood sugar was out of control. My weight was out of control,\u201d she said. And yet, despite her worsening arthritis and type 2 diabetes, she still craved food.<\/p>\n<p>She also craved alcohol, and was beginning to worry that her drinking habits were unhealthy.<\/p>\n<p>And then, just like that: One shot took it all away. Her daily drink turned into one a month, her chronic joint pain vanished, she dropped 25 pounds. Ozempic didn\u2019t just improve her health, it gave her choices\u2014to do \u201cthings in life that I wasn\u2019t doing before,\u201d like going to the gym each day. She was finally sleeping through the night.<\/p>\n<p>And yet when we spoke recently, she said she wasn\u2019t sure Ozempic had made her life better. \u201cMy mind and my day-to-day is kind of gray,\u201d Francis told me.
