Coronation Street star Beth Nixon has opened up about her real-life friendships with her castmates, as she remains at the centre of a dark storyline.<\/p>\n

Beth’s character Megan Walsh is involved in a huge issue-based plot<\/a>, as the sports coach has been secretly grooming her teenage student, Will Driscoll.<\/p>\n

Megan has understandably become a hate figure on the cobbles since her secrets were exposed earlier this month<\/a>. Eva Price, who is a stepmum figure to Will, has been leading the calls for her to be brought to justice.<\/p>\n

Daniel Osbourne has also ended his relationship with Megan and has pushed for her to be prosecuted, realising that she can’t be trusted<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Speaking exclusively to Inside Soap<\/a> about life on set, Beth explained: “I love all the Driscoll family. I always go to Cath [Tyldesley, who plays Eva] for advice.<\/p>\n

“Rob Mallard [who plays Daniel] is my favourite person on earth. He was so welcoming and we have such a laugh together.<\/p>\n

“It’s obviously a really dark subject matter, so to be able to have a laugh while being professional and doing a good performance, it’s hard to find that sometimes.”<\/p>\n

Beth also revealed the behind-the-scenes input she’s had into developing Megan’s character in recent months.<\/p>\n

If you’ve noticed that Megan seems like a closed book \u2013 focusing on her job and Will rather than much else \u2013 it turns out that’s a deliberate character choice.<\/p>\n

Asked if she’s made any suggestions behind the scenes, Beth replied: “Yeah \u2013 she doesn’t really speak about her family. That’s been nice really, because that’s mine \u2013 I’m the only one who knows her history. In a way, I put my own spin on that.<\/p>\n

“When I first came in, when we were doing costume meetings, I said that I wanted her to be sweet and innocent-looking, but it was a collaborative decision.<\/p>\n

“The directors here, they let you have an artistic license over your character.”<\/p>\n

Megan has dramatic scenes coming up next week, as Will’s grandmother Maggie takes matters into her own hands by seeking her out for a showdown.<\/p>\n

Afterwards, Maggie realises that she may have made a big mistake as Megan reports her to the police and accuses her of assault<\/a>.<\/p>\n
