A 30-year-old man has appeared in court charged with the murder of a mother-of-two in Co Derry at the weekend.<\/p>\n
Amy Doherty, aged 28, was found seriously injured at a property in the Summer Meadows Mews area of Derry on Saturday morning and later died in hospital.<\/p>\n
Connor McNamee, a welder from Meehan’s Terrace in Co Derry, is charged with the murder, with the offence said to be aggravated by domestic abuse.<\/p>\n
He is also charged with possessing an offensive weapon, namely a kitchen knife, on the same date as well as possession of Class A drugs.<\/p>\n
The accused appeared by video link in a wheelchair with visible bruising to his face, injuries believed to have been sustained when he fell from the Foyle Bridge on Saturday.<\/p>\n
He spoke only to confirm that he understood the charges.<\/p>\n
A police officer told the court they could connect him to the charges.<\/p>\n
District Judge Oonagh Mullan expressed her condolences to the friends and family of Ms Doherty.<\/p>\n
