Two men have been arrested after garda\u00ed seized \u20ac1.52m worth of cannabis in South Dublin.<\/p>\n

Both men, aged in their 50s, are being quizzed at Garda stations in the Dublin Metropolitan Region.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs part of Operation Tara, garda\u00ed have seized \u20ac1.52 million worth of suspected illegal cannabis during a search of a residence in South Dublin on the evening of Thursday, March 26,\u201d a Garda spokesperson said.<\/p>\n

\u201cDuring the course of the search under warrant, the Dublin Crime Response Team seized approximately 73kg of cannabis herb and 10kg of cannabis resin, with a combined value of approximately \u20ac1.52 million.\u201d<\/p>\n

The drugs seized are now subject to technical analysis by Forensic Science Ireland (FSI).<\/p>\n

Two men (aged in their 50\u2019s) have been arrested in connection with the investigation, and are currently detained pursuant to Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996, at Garda Stations in the Dublin Metropolitan Region.<\/p>\n

Acting Assistant Commissioner Dublin Metropolitan Region, Jonathan Roberts said this was \u201cyet another example of the relentless efforts by members of An Garda S\u00edoch\u00e1na to target criminality that causes the most harm in our communities\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis seizure of illicit drugs in a specific targeted operation, in addition to a number of other significant seizures in the city centre and across the region in the past number of days demonstrates our commitment to removing harmful drugs from circulation,\u201d Roberts said.<\/p>\n

\u201cAn Garda Sioch\u00e1na remains committed to bringing those willing to engage in the supply of illicit drugs before the courts.\u201d<\/p>\n

Garfdai added that investigations are ongoing.<\/p>\n

This seizure forms part of Operation Tara an enhanced national anti-drugs strategy, which was launched by the Garda Commissioner in July 2021.<\/p>\n
