{"id":368857,"date":"2026-03-27T23:20:09","date_gmt":"2026-03-27T23:20:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/368857\/"},"modified":"2026-03-27T23:20:09","modified_gmt":"2026-03-27T23:20:09","slug":"kilkenny-youngsters-show-well-to-win-all-ireland-volleyball-title","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/368857\/","title":{"rendered":"Kilkenny youngsters show well to win All-Ireland Volleyball title"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On Thursday 19th March, three teams representing\u00a0St Leonards <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kilkennypeople.ie\/section\/116\/sport\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Dunnamaggin<\/a> competed in the National\u00a0Volleyball\u00a0Final in UL Limerick. <\/p>\n<p>206 teams had competed in the competition and 60 reached the Nationals.All three teams competed very well . The boys team, which are still eligible next year, didnt\u00a0make the play-offs, the girls were unfortunate to be in a very tough group and did well to reach the quarter-finals where a couple of unlucky shots saw them exit at this stage.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kilkennypeople.ie\/section\/770\/other-sport\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">mixed team<\/a> easily overcame their group opponents and went straight through to the quarter finals.They beat a strong Clerihan team to progress to the semi-final, where their team-work and determination saw them through to the final.<\/p>\n<p>They met a very skillful Claregalway team in the final and had to play some exceptional\u00a0volleyball\u00a0to beat them and be crowned All-Ireland Champions, much to the delight of their many supporters and teachers.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kilkennypeople.ie\/news\/other-sport\/2036117\/kilkenny-snooker-player-off-to-flying-start-in-european-snooker-championships.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Read Next-\u00a0Kilkenny snooker player off to flying start at European Snooker Championships<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Charlie received the cup on behalf of the team and after photos were taken, the bus headed for home with a meal for champions in Supermacs on the way.
