On March 26, the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills<\/a> alum, 44, told PEOPLE exclusively at the iHeartRadio Music Awards<\/a> how she manages the mental and emotional stresses of ongoing cancer treatment. “You know, I kind of ride the wave,” she said.<\/p>\n “I’m actually doing well. I had immunotherapy<\/a> two weeks ago, and then I have my next one in two weeks, so things are moving along nicely,” said Mellencamp, who presented her dad, John Mellencamp<\/a>, with the iHeartRadio Music Icon Award<\/a>.<\/p>\n Teddi Mellencamp presents father John Mellencamp with the iHeartRadio Icon Award Things were much bleaker for Mellencamp earlier in the month, after she shared that a new medication had triggered<\/a> the painful, and potentially life-threatening reaction, Stevens-Johnson Syndrome<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cI thought I had the flu. And then I woke up one day and my whole body was just covered in, like, this terrible rash \u2014 like, you can’t even say it’s a rash because it’s almost like sores all over my entire body,\u201d she told friend and co-host Tamra Judge<\/a> on the March 3 episode of their Two T\u2019s in a Pod<\/a> podcast.<\/p>\n After a few days in the hospital, her symptoms got better \u2014 just in time to celebrate her daughter Dove\u2019s birthday<\/a>, after missing it last year due to her cancer treatment. (Mellencamp shares three children<\/a> \u2014 Slate, 12, Cruz, 11,\u00a0and Dove, 6 \u2014 with her ex, Edwin Arroyave<\/a>.)<\/p>\n Mellencamp’s cancer journey first began in 2022 when she was diagnosed with stage 2 melanoma<\/a> \u2014 the deadliest form of skin cancer. She underwent 17 surgeries for the invasive skin cancer<\/a>, but in April 2025, Mellencamp shared that it had metastasized to her brain and lungs<\/a>.<\/p>\n She’s been undergoing regular immunotherapy treatments for her cancer, but said even though she’s still considered stage 4, doctors told her she has \u201cno trace of cancer<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n![\"Teddi](\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/020af7f0e843264c95d9791fff3909bf.jpeg\"\/)
