Josh Duhamel<\/a> used his recent appearance on a politically divisive radio show to urge celebrities to stay quiet when it comes to politics. <\/p>\n

The \u201cTransformers\u201d actor spoke this week to Megyn Kelly on her SiriusXM show<\/a>, where he said he\u2019d made a \u201cbusiness decision\u201d to keep his political views to himself. <\/p>\n

\u201cJust because you have a platform doesn\u2019t mean that you get to preach to everybody,\u201d he said. \u201cI have real strong opinions about things, but I don\u2019t really talk about it because it\u2019s like, \u2018Why? Why would I alienate half my audience?\u2019 Because I respect their views on things but I\u2019m not going to preach to them.\u201d<\/p>\n

He went on to question the motives of celebrities who speak out, noting: \u201cIf you really want to be successful in this business, why would you make half of your audience despise you by your political beliefs?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m here just to make cool movies, cool TV. I\u2019m here to make cool stuff,\u201d he added. \u201cI\u2019m the court jester, you know? If I want to preach to you about what I believe politically, I will go run for office, which I\u2019m not going to do, by the way.\u201d <\/p>\n

Duhamel is hardly the first celebrity to suggest<\/a> figures in Hollywood would be better served<\/a> by keeping mum about their politics. Still, many viewers<\/a> felt his decision to make such a statement<\/a> while being interviewed by Kelly, a former Fox News<\/a> host and ardent supporter <\/a>of President Donald Trump<\/a>, spoke volumes. <\/p>\n

\u201cyeah man. Duhamel going on Megyn Kelly,\u201d one person wrote on X<\/a>. \u201cI wonder what his political views are. Truly stumped.\u201d<\/p>\n

Added another<\/a>, \u201cThis is such bullshit. The very act of doing Megyn Kelly\u2019s show is political. Appearing on her show is a political statement in and of itself.\u201d<\/p>\n

Others pointed out<\/a> that Duhamel publicly backed<\/a> former North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum<\/a>, a Republican, for president during the 2024 election cycle. Though Burgum suspended his campaign early in the primary race, he now serves as secretary of the interior. <\/p>\n

Duhamel recently starred in Netflix<\/a>\u2019s \u201cRansom Canyon<\/a>,\u201d portraying Staten Kirkland, the patriarch of a Texas ranching family.
