Several years ago, Chloe was watching TV in her flat when she became convinced someone was living in the loft above her.<\/p>\n

The mum lived in a new-build block in Gravesend, Kent<\/a>, with a loft covering the entirety of the flats on the top floor.<\/p>\n

The now 31-year-old kept noticing that a hatch to get into there, in her ceiling, kept being left open and had initially found it strange but didn\u2019t really \u2018think anything of it\u2019.<\/p>\n

This soon began to escalate for Chloe and she was eventually placed on anti-psychotic medication<\/a>. However, a call to the police<\/a> soon revealed the grave truth as it turned out a neighbour had been lying to her.<\/p>\n

A friend living downstairs reassured her there was no one on the loft, but she could hear footsteps.<\/p>\n

Chloe spoke to her next-door neighbour, who also lived below the loft, to see if he heard anything but: \u201cHe said he didn\u2019t hear anything and said it wasn\u2019t true.\u201d<\/p>\n

She explained to LBC<\/a> that when she called everyone they told her it was just in her head.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo one would believe me\u201d she said. \u201cBut I don\u2019t blame the people in my life then.\u201d<\/p>\n

Chloe was known to mental health<\/a> services at the time and suffered with anxiety and PTSD.<\/p>\n

A \u2018different person now\u2019, she added that she had a condition which meant she could hear different environments.<\/p>\n

Chloe continued to be convinced someone was living before her and became too scared to go home. Her friends thought she was \u2018hallucinating or having a psychotic episode\u2019.<\/p>\n

\u201cI started thinking in my head, maybe it\u2019s not true, maybe I do need to see a doctor,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

“When I saw the doctor, I told them \u2018I thinks someone\u2019s in loft and that there people coming in and out my house. I truly believed it\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n

Chloe was placed on quetiapine a \u2018second-generation antipsychotic\u2019 that is used to treat schizophrenia, bipolar disorder and severe depression.<\/p>\n

She\u2019s spoke of this making her feel like a \u2018zombie\u2019 and like she was \u2018not a real person\u2019.<\/p>\n

But after roughly two months of taking it, the latch was opened \u2018blatantly\u2019 in front of her, revealing a man in the loft.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe was staring at me and I ran downstairs to my friend screaming for help,\u201d she recalled.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe was like \u2018calm down\u2019, but I\u2019d had enough, I\u2019d seen him. I\u2019m on anti psychotics and I\u2019m still seeing it.<\/p>\n

“If it was in my head then why am I still seeing it?\u201d<\/p>\n

Chloe called the police, who went up there and discovered he\u2019d been living there, with bags and backpacks stored. \u201cAt the time I was just happy that I was right, I was very smug.\u201d<\/p>\n

She also claims her next-door neighbour knew the truth, as it was his homeless friend and had been helping him.<\/p>\n

A spokesperson from Moat Housing said: \u201cThe safety of our customers is very important to us, as it was at the time of the incident nine years ago.<\/p>\n

“Thanks to reports from customers living in the building, we were able to work with the Police to investigate the incident, leading to an arrest.<\/p>\n

“We secured the loft space shortly afterwards, and have had no further reports of phrogging.<\/p>\n
