{"id":371447,"date":"2026-03-29T14:00:10","date_gmt":"2026-03-29T14:00:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/371447\/"},"modified":"2026-03-29T14:00:10","modified_gmt":"2026-03-29T14:00:10","slug":"conor-and-jock-return-for-series-five-of-the-young-offenders","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/371447\/","title":{"rendered":"Conor and Jock return for series five of The Young Offenders"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"\">Ten years ago, a feature film called  The Young Offenders helped put Cork on the comedy map.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">Set in the madcap world of city scallywags Conor (Alex Murphy) and Jock (Chris Walley), it was a big hit, and a TV series followed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">In the four series since, we have seen the boys grow up &#8211; but not too much, Conor and Jock will be forever young at heart!<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">Now the fifth series of  The Young Offenders will drop on the RT\u00c9 Player next Friday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">It also airs on BBC1 that day at 9.30pm, and on RT\u00c91 on Saturday, April 4 at 10.30pm. Creator Peter Foott returns as writer and executive producer.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">In the first episode, Conor and Jock are reunited after a disastrous brush with the law saw them spend jail time on two different continents.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">When a chance opportunity allows Jock to stow away on a ship from Colombia bound for Cork, the lads soon slip back into their old ways, wreaking havoc everywhere they go, but still wanting the best for themselves and their families.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">Over the next few weeks, we will see Conor face losing the love of his life, Jock trying to rebuild his relationship with Star, and the lads embark on more crazy plans in the hope of improving their lives.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">Also returning for the series is Hilary Rose as the pair\u2019s long-suffering mother\/guardian Mairead, along with Shane Casey as Billy, and Dominic MacHale as Sergeant Healy.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Ten years ago, a feature film called The Young Offenders helped put Cork on the comedy map.
