Senator and singer Frances Black was forced to cancel a charity gig in Dublin<\/a> last night after suffering a “really bad fall”, resulting in a trip to A&E.<\/p>\n The 65-year-old was due to perform at St Bernadette’s Church on Clogher Road, Crumlin, but never reached the stage as she fell whilst making her way from the dressing room into the church.<\/p>\n In a social media post, the musician said she had “quite the adventure” before getting the chance to sing a note.<\/p>\n She said: “I was supposed to be performing at a charity gig at the beautiful St Bernadette\u2019s Church on Clogher Rd with the wonderful Ceol Aoine choir, and I was so looking forward to the night and especially singing with them!<\/p>\n “As I was making my way from the dressing room into the church, I had a really bad fall. I went down hard, hit my head, ended up with a very bad black eye, a scraped face and a broken finger.<\/p>\n Frances Black was about to take to the stage at the St Bernadette\u2019s Church in Dublin when the incident occurred<\/p>\n “Off to Tallaght A&E I went, where I was thoroughly checked out X-rays, a CT scan, the works. Thankfully, I\u2019m okay. A bit battered and bruised, but I\u2019m okay.”<\/p>\n Frances Black first came to prominence in the 1980s when she played in her family’s traditional band, The Black Family. She made history in 2016 when she became the first independent female Senator.<\/p>\n The politician isn’t letting her injuries get in the way of performing tonight, as she’s set to take stage at the Pavilion Theatre in Dublin.<\/p>\n She continued: “Now to tonight\u2019s gig at the Pavilion Theatre in D\u00fan Laoghaire is absolutely still happening! For those who are coming to the gig I just wanted to give you all a little warning : don\u2019t be alarmed when you see me, the black eye and bruising is pretty spectacular at this point!<\/p>\n “Thank you so much to the team at the hospital for taking such good care of me. I am deeply grateful. Thank you to Gerald Perigine and Cl\u00e1r U\u00ed Mhurch\u00fa who were so kind to me after the fall and all the other lovely people who got ice and made me tea. I am sad that I didn\u2019t get to sing with Andrea Smith and Ceol Aoine, but I will definitely get to sing with them again.”<\/p>\n “I\u2019m looking forward to the Pavillion gig tonight black eye and all I cannot wait to see you all there with my good eye.
