Leicester Tigers head coach Geoff Parling has apologised after he used foul language and pushed TNT Sports\u2019 Irish presenter Craig Doyle \u200cover a segment where the broadcaster\u2019s producer Liam MacDevitt attempted a conversion while players \u200bwere warming up.<\/p>\n
Parling was not happy with the interference at Villa Park before Saturday\u2019s Premiership Rugby clash with Gloucester, which Leicester lost 36-17.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat\u2019s not on,\u201d Parling told \u200bDoyle after the latter asked if he would sign MacDevitt. Parling then pushed Doyle \u2060and directed foul language at him before ordering the TNT \u200cstaff \u200coff \u200bthe pitch.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhilst this was contrary to standard practise [sic] and \u2013 as always \u2013 the well-being of those players under the posts was Geoff Parling\u2019s primary concern, Leicester Tigers and Geoff Parling accept that the response was unnecessary and would like to apologise unreservedly to everyone involved,\u201d Leicester said in a \u200cstatement.<\/p>\n
Parling had said after Saturday\u2019s \u200bmatch that a TNT staff member had apologised to him.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe producer \u2060from TNT has just \u2060come and apologised \u200bto me … I\u2019m very wary that I need to protect my players. And certainly balls flying towards our players that can go anywhere was an injury risk. And I\u2019m obviously not going to be happy,\u201d he told the BBC.<\/p>\n
Parling, a former England international, said on Sunday that it was \u200cnot appropriate for the \u2060viewers to see the incident.<\/p>\n
\u201cI would like to apologise for the incident pre-game yesterday … I offer my thanks to \u200cCraig Doyle and TNT for continuing to innovate and think differently,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
