Richard Keys<\/a> may have just surpassed Richard Madeley as the most Alan Partridge man in real life with his latest interview.<\/p>\n

We can only thank Keysey for blessing us with countless nuggets of gold on an otherwise completely uneventful international break Sunday.<\/p>\n

The 68-year-old\u2019s interview in The Telegraph<\/a>, in which he reflects on his career and controversies, is jaw-dropping in its lack of self-awareness. And yet we wouldn\u2019t have expected anything less.<\/p>\n

Here are the five most Partridge moments from Keys\u2019 interview.<\/p>\n

5. Father-in-law<\/p>\n

Props to the interviewer for the use of \u201che grins\u201d while writing up Keys\u2019 struggle for advice.<\/p>\n

You can picture exactly how smug he is as he tells this zinger.<\/p>\n

\u201cMost people would turn to the father-in-law\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n

Wait for it\u2026<\/p>\n

Wait for it.<\/p>\n

Wait for it.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201c\u2026But he\u2019s younger than me.\u201d<\/p>\n

Chef\u2019s kiss.<\/p>\n

4. Not that I would know<\/p>\n

Keys\u2019 recollection of taking twice his prescribed blood pressure medication \u2013 in itself an incredibly Pardridge escapade \u2013 couldn\u2019t be more perfect:<\/p>\n

\u201cI was sitting in a bar in Qatar, where Andy and I were hosting a golf event, and the whole world was moving around me.<\/p>\n

\u201cEnjoyably high and drunk at the same time: it must be what MDMA is like, not that I would know.\u201d<\/p>\n

3. Setting the record straight<\/p>\n

Read the replies to any of Keys\u2019 tweets and there\u2019ll invariably be jibes about his hairy hands, running off with his daughter\u2019s mate, or some combination of the two.<\/p>\n

After years of stoic silence, finally decided to set the record straight on that front.<\/p>\n

Listeners of the Football Cliches podcast will be familiar with host Adam Hurrey\u2019s \u2018Keysey voice\u2019, which has taken on a life of it\u2019s own and is weirdly infectious.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s impossible to read this next passage, in particular, without hearing it in that voice.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat\u2019s damaging is that people presume I ran away with my daughter\u2019s best mate, locked her in a room, and gave her no choice about whether she wanted to be with me or not.<\/p>\n

\u201cAll of which is nonsense. Lucie\u2019s one of the most powerful, strong-minded individuals you\u2019ll come across. She\u2019s deeply passionate about women\u2019s rights.<\/p>\n

\u201cPeople see me as an easy target, but the narrative is not fair on her. It\u2019s totally wrong.\u201d<\/p>\n

Release the tapes, The Telegraph. We demand to hear this in Keys\u2019 signature smarmy tones.<\/p>\n

2. A little respect<\/p>\n

Keys\u2019 tone-deaf \u2018tribute\u2019 to Wales legend Terry Yorath caused a minor social media stir back in January, prompting TNT Sports presenter Laura Woods to call him a tw*t<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI would never, ever have described a senior member of my profession as a t\u2013t,\u201d he responded.<\/p>\n

\u201cA little bit more respect, please.\u201d<\/p>\n

Course you wouldn\u2019t, Keysey. The additional call for respect is just the cherry on the icing.<\/p>\n

1. Christmas can of tuna<\/p>\n

Behold. The single bleakest anecdote ever told in the history of broadsheet interviews:<\/p>\n

\u201cFor a long time, I was persona non grata.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was left with a lot of very angry wives, and I wasn\u2019t invited to much, if anything at all. I remember one Christmas Day, the best Christmas of my life in fairness, when I sat with a bottle of champagne, a can of tuna, and I watched The Great Escape, Where Eagles Dare and The Guns of Navarone. Back-to-back-to-back. Three magnificent movies. Actually, I\u2019ve wanted to do it many times since.\u201d<\/p>\n

That, right there, is why AI will never win.<\/p>\n

You could feed every word ever uttered by Keys into ChatGPT, and its algorithm couldn\u2019t even begin to dream up that combination of words.<\/p>\n
