Family and friends of Scarlett Faulkner<\/a> have held a prayer vigil for her as she remained on life support at Cork University Hospital after suffering critical head injuries in a savage assault over a week ago.<\/p>\n

The mother of one from Longpavement, Limerick, was attacked <\/a>at the side of the R484 road, situated just outside Bridhill village, Co Tipperary on Saturday, March 21 last.<\/p>\n

Ms Faulkner<\/a>, late 20s, was attacked with an iron bar in a sustained assault, Limerick District Court heard last Saturday.<\/p>\n

A 16-year old girl, and a 40-year old woman, who cannot be named by order of the court, were charged in connection with the assault.<\/p>\n

The accused girl was charged with assault causing serious harm to Ms Faulkner<\/a>, and the accused woman was charged with violent disorder, reckless endangerment and burglary.<\/p>\n

The accused girl is alleged to have struck Ms Faulkner at least 11 times on her head with an iron bar. The accused woman is alleged to have been driving a car that allegedly rammed Ms Faulkner<\/a> and a male moments before Ms Faulkner was physically attacked.<\/p>\n

At a special sitting of Limerick District Court the two accused females were refused bail and remanded in custody to appear via video-link before Tipperary District Court, sitting g in Thurles, for directions from the Director of Public Prosecutions on April 1st.<\/p>\n

A post on Ms Faulkner\u2019s siblings<\/a> Facebook account \u201cJoanne and Thomas Faulkner\u201d stated: \u201cA very special thank u to each and every person who came to the vigal [sic] tonight for our sister scarlet we can’t thank everyone enough for all yer love support prayers and candles.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cEspecially Majella redden who organised it and the monk who said prayers thank yer all so much we appreciate ye all and thank ue all from the bottom of our hearts.\u201d<\/p>\n

In a separate video posted online, Ms Faulkner\u2019s brother\u2019s partner<\/a>, Josephine (Joanne) Duffy, said Ms Faulkner remained on life support at CUH.<\/p>\n

Ms Duffy thanked people for sending the Faulkner family prayers and well wishes as they remained hopeful Ms Faulkner\u2019s condition may improve.<\/p>\n

Ms Duffy said the family were experiencing \u201cvery difficult\u201d and \u201cvery stressful\u201d days since Scarlett was attacked, and as they continued to keep a bedside vigil at CUH.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe update on Scarlett is they (doctors) are keeping her on the (life support) machines. They’re trying to reduce the sedation, but her (Scarlett\u2019s) brain is swelling,\u201d said Ms Duffy.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo, now she’s fully sedated again. They will slowly try it (again) during the week and try it without the brain swelling.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cSo they are going to keep trying. And when they do try, and if the swelling stays down, then they will try wake (Scarlett) up to see if she has any movement or to see if there\u2019s any (brain) activity, and then they will put her back into sedation to heal, I suppose,\u201d added Ma Duffy.<\/p>\n

Ms Duffy said the Faulkner <\/a>family had asked people \u201cto please keep praying\u201d for Scarlett.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey’re very, very grateful, very thankful for all the prayers, for everyone that’s lighting candles, and for every message.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThey know of all your messages, they\u2019re genuinely, really appreciate of the candles that you’re lighting and their prayers that you’re saying. So, please God, Scarlett will come through.\u201d<\/p>\n

It\u2019s understood that investigating garda\u00ed wish to question a number of other persons as part of their enquiries into the assault on Ms Faulkner<\/a>.<\/p>\n
