{"id":372672,"date":"2026-03-30T08:27:14","date_gmt":"2026-03-30T08:27:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/372672\/"},"modified":"2026-03-30T08:27:14","modified_gmt":"2026-03-30T08:27:14","slug":"golf-irelands-agm-appoints-first-ulster-female-president","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/372672\/","title":{"rendered":"Golf Ireland&#8217;s AGM Appoints First Ulster Female President"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Fiona Delargy has been appointed as the new President of Golf Ireland following the organisation\u2019s sixth Annual General Meeting, held on Saturday at the Hodson Bay Hotel.<\/p>\n<p>A member of Cushendall Golf Club, Delargy succeeds Michael Evans, who concluded his term at the meeting. Having served as President-Elect over the past year, she now assumes leadership of the governing body at a time of continued growth and evolution for the sport.<\/p>\n<p>Delargy brings more than four decades of involvement in golf as both a player and administrator. She previously served as Ulster Regional Secretary for Golf Ireland and held multiple leadership roles within the former ILGU structures, as well as at club level in Cushendall.<\/p>\n<p>Her wider sporting governance experience includes roles with Netball Northern Ireland and schools\u2019 netball administration, adding further depth to her leadership profile.<\/p>\n<p>With a busy season ahead and continued focus on participation, inclusion and competitive development, her presidency begins at a time of strong momentum for golf across the island.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m very proud and honoured to be in this privileged position,\u201d she said. \u201cI am proud to be the first Ulster female president of Golf Ireland, so that is also a particular honour.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She pointed to the breadth of Golf Ireland\u2019s work across participation and inclusion as a key strength of the organisation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGolf Ireland has catered for everybody, from GolfSixes through to our veterans and our golfers with a disability. We are reaching out to absolutely everybody.
