After announcing with the March 2026 Feature Drop<\/a>,\u00a0Google is now widely rolling out Transit mode to \u201cturn on helpful settings while you\u2019re on the train\u201d and real-time commute updates in At a Glance.<\/p>\n Once available, go to Settings > Modes for a new \u201cTransit\u201d mode alongside Do Not Disturb, Bedtime, and Driving.\u00a0<\/p>\n The ability to control Notification filters (People, Apps, and Alarms) and Display settings matches other modes. What\u2019s unique with Transit is how it can turn on automatically.<\/p>\n Under \u201cApp settings,\u201d you can set \u201cVolume settings during transit\u201d to Sound on, Vibrate only, or Silent, while you can have Bluetooth always turn on while commuting to pair headphones.<\/p>\n \tAdvertisement – scroll for more content<\/p>\n At the very bottom, tap \u201cSet up commute notifications\u201d to \u201cStay ahead of your commute with real-time updates on departure times, delays, and alternative routes.\u201d (See the middle screenshot in the cover image above.) These updates appear in At a Glance on your lockscreen and at the top of your homescreen.<\/p>\n The set-up process involves confirming your home and work addresses, as well as making sure your Google Maps Timeline (Location history) is enabled along with precise Background location for the Maps app.\u00a0<\/p>\n \t\t Google says it takes \u201c2\u20133 weeks for commute info to appear after initial setup\u201d as Google Maps \u201cneeds time to learn your commute patterns.\u201d<\/p>\n As of today, we\u2019re seeing this widely rolled out on Android 16 QPR3 (March 2026) and the Android 17 Beta in the US.
