\n\tBTS<\/a>\u2019 \u201cSwim\u201d makes the splashiest of starts, at No. 1, on the Billboard Hot 100<\/a>. The song becomes the superstar South Korean pop group\u2019s seventh career leader and first since 2021; the following year, the septet announced a hiatus<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cSwim\u201d is from ARIRANG, BTS\u2019 first studio album of new material since 2020. The set blasts in atop<\/a> the Billboard 200<\/a> albums chart, where it\u2019s likewise the group\u2019s seventh No. 1.<\/p>\n

\n\tBTS continues to boast the most Hot 100 No. 1s among groups since it first led, with \u201cSavage Love (Laxed \u2013 Siren Beat)\u201d with Jawsh 685 and Jason Derulo, in October 2020. In fact, BTS has the most No. 1s among groups in nearly half a century \u2014 since the Bee Gees banked its nine career chart-toppers in 1971-79. As for the most No. 1s among groups since the chart began in August 1958, the Beatles lead all acts with 20, followed in the category by the Supremes (12), Bee Gees, the Rolling Stones (eight) and BTS.<\/p>\n

\t\u2018Swim\u2019 Streams, Airplay & Sales<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cSwim,\u201d on BigHit Music\/Geffen\/Interscope Capitol, arrives as the Hot 100\u2019s 1,190th No. 1 all-time, and the 89th to debut<\/a> at the summit (making for a feat that 7% of all leaders have achieved).<\/p>\n

\n\tReleased March 20 on ARIRANG, \u201cSwim\u201d drew 15.3 million official streams and 25.8 million radio airplay audience impressions and sold 154,000 (digital and physical singles combined) in the United States in the week ending March 26. Its physical sales total reflects two CD singles, one including an instrumental version, while its digital sum is comprised of the original and instrumental versions, with seven options of the original available from March 24 through the end of the tracking week with alternate cover art \u2014 one for each member of BTS. (The instrumental version, released March 23, was also made available for streaming.)<\/p>\n

\n\tBTS promoted its new music with the Netflix special BTS THE COMEBACK LIVE | ARIRANG March 21 and appearances on NBC\u2019s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon March 25, when it performed \u201cSwim,\u201d and March 26.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cSwim\u201d debuts at No. 2 on Streaming Songs<\/a>, BTS\u2019 best career rank on the chart; No. 18 on Radio Songs<\/a>, the act\u2019s highest entrance; and No. 1 on Digital Song Sales<\/a>, where it\u2019s BTS\u2019 13th leader, the most among groups.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cSwim\u201d is BTS\u2019 sixth song to debut at No. 1 on the Hot 100 (all except \u201cSavage Love\u201d above), the most among groups.<\/p>\n

\n\tAs soloists, BTS members Jimin (\u201cLike Crazy,\u201d April 2023) and Jung Kook (\u201cSeven,\u201d featuring Latto; one week, July 2023) have each notched one Hot 100 No. 1.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cSwim\u201d is additionally BTS\u2019 11th Hot 100 top 10 and first since \u201cBad Decisions\u201d with Benny Blanco and Snoop Dogg (No. 10 peak, August 2022). (Jung Kook has earned three solo top 10s and Jimin, one.)<\/p>\n

\tGoing Swimmingly<\/p>\n

\n\tGoing a little deeper (but not too deep for fear of a lifeguard\u2019s whistle), \u201cSwim\u201d is the first Hot 100 No. 1 featuring that word in a song title. The prior high, um, watermark? No. 5, for Bobby Freeman\u2019s \u201cC\u2019mon and Swim\u201d in August 1964. A shout-out, too, to Teddy Swims, whose \u201cLose Control\u201d led for a week in March 2024.<\/p>\n

\tRest of Top 10: \u2018Choosin\u2019 Texas\u2019 & More<\/p>\n

\n\tElla Langley\u2019s \u201cChoosin\u2019 Texas\u201d drops to No. 2 on the Hot 100 following four weeks at No. 1 since mid-February \u2014 the most for a song by a woman that also hit No. 1 on Billboard\u2019s Hot Country Songs<\/a> chart; it leads the latter list for an 18th week. It also posts a fifth week atop Streaming Songs (23.7 million, up 9%).<\/p>\n

\n\tOlivia Dean\u2019s first two Hot 100 top 10s remain in the region as \u201cMan I Need\u201d slips to No. 3 from its No. 2 high and \u201cSo Easy (To Fall in Love)\u201d rises 9-7 for a new best.<\/p>\n

\n\tBruno Mars\u2019 \u201cI Just Might\u201d descends 3-4 after three weeks atop the Hot 100 in January to mid-March. It leads Radio Songs for a fifth week, with 80.9 million in audience (down 1%). It tops the multimetric Hot R&B\/Hip-Hop Songs<\/a> and Hot R&B Songs<\/a> charts for an 11th week each; on the former, it passes \u201cThat\u2019s What I Like\u201d (2017) for Mars\u2019 longest domination among his five leaders.<\/p>\n

\n\tAlex Warren\u2019s \u201cOrdinary\u201d falls 4-5 on the Hot 100 after 10 weeks at No. 1 last June-August. It logs a 43rd week in the top five, tying The Weeknd\u2019s \u201cBlinding Lights\u201d (2020-21) for the second-longest such run, after Shaboozey\u2019s \u201cA Bar Song (Tipsy)\u201d (47 weeks, 2024-25).<\/p>\n

\n\tHUNTR\/X\u2019s \u201cGolden\u201d backtracks 5-6 on the Hot 100 following eight weeks at No. 1 last August-October. Notably, the only two groups to top the Hot 100 in almost the last four years \u2014 BTS and HUNTR\/X \u2014 are associated with K-pop. (Before their leaders, Glass Animals\u2019 \u201cHeat Waves\u201d reigned in 2022.)<\/p>\n

\n\tPinkPantheress\u2019 \u201cStateside,\u201d with Zara Larsson, dips to No. 8 from its No. 6 Hot 100 high, as it adds a sixth week at No. 1 on Hot Dance\/Pop Songs<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\tTaylor Swift\u2019s \u201cThe Fate of Ophelia\u201d is down 8-9 on the Hot 100, after it began her career-best 10 weeks atop the chart upon its debut in October and led through January.<\/p>\n

\n\tRounding out the Hot 100\u2019s top 10, Kehlani\u2019s \u201cFolded\u201d rises 13-10 after reaching No. 6.<\/p>\n
