As it looks to explore more of their home planet, a new Supergirl<\/a> image offers the best look yet at a major Superman family member.<\/p>\n

After making an appearance at the end of 2025’s Superman<\/a>, House of the Dragon’s Milly Alcock will return as Kara Zor-El in the upcoming Supergirl film, which flies into theaters this June.<\/p>\n

Ahead of the next trailer’s release, EW<\/a> has unveiled new Supergirl images, including a look at Oppenheimer’s David Krumholtz playing Zor-El, Kara’s father and the uncle to David Corenswet’s Clark Kent\/Superman. The image shows Kara and Zor-El standing next to each other in a darkened room.<\/p>\n

In the second photo, Kara dons sunglasses and headphones as she stares straight ahead, with Krypto (who was featured in Superman) next to her.<\/p>\n

In addition, EW offered new looks at Matthias Schoenaerts’ Brigans leader, Krem of the Yellow Hills, and Jason Momoa’s Lobo.<\/p>\n

Director Craig Gillespie told EW that he was “thrilled” to be able to cast Krumholtz as Zor-El in the second DC Universe film Supergirl<\/a>. He was looking for a high-caliber actor to be able to learn an original language.<\/p>\n

“There are five languages in this film, and Kryptonian is one of them,” he explained. “There’s some major scenes, like minutes and minutes of dialogue that they’ve got to work with.” Gillespie and the rest of the DC Universe team felt that Krumholtz could absolutely take on that challenge and succeed.<\/p>\n

“I was thrilled. He’s a big comic book fan, which was awesome. There are five languages in this film, and Kryptonian is one of them\u2014all original languages. So they had to learn a language. There’s some major scenes, like minutes and minutes of dialogue that they’ve got to work with. You really need actors of that caliber.”<\/p>\n

Krumholtz has starred in several movies and shows<\/a> over the years, including Addams Family Values, The Santa Clause, 10 Things I Hate About You, Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle, Ray, Numb3rs, The Good Wife, The Deuce and The Studio.<\/p>\n

More recently, the actor could be seen in the Oscar-winning film Oppenheimer and the biopic Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere.<\/p>\n

Supergirl will center on Kara’s journey<\/a> to defeat Krem of the Yellow Hills, with the help of Ruthye Marye Knoll. The superhero’s life takes a turn, though, when Krypto gets poisoned, and Kara sets out to secure the antidote from Krem.<\/p>\n

Along the way, the film will explore Argo and Krypton, according to Gillespie, who added that the location is “fundamental” to who Kara is and how her formative years were shaped.<\/p>\n

This will lead moviegoers to discover why Kara’s personality is the way it is now, especially when it comes to her “self-destructive nature” that’s on full display at the start of the movie.<\/p>\n

“We do really thoroughly investigate Argo [the city where Supergirl was born] and Krypton. It’s so fundamental to who she is as a person and what she goes through in her formative years there. It makes you understand why she is where she is with her personality and the self-destructive nature that she has as we meet her at the beginning of the film.”<\/p>\n

Along with Alcock, Krumholtz, Schoenaerts and Momoa, Supergirl also stars Eve Ridley, Emily Beecham, Ferdinand Kingsley and Diarmaid Murtagh.<\/p>\n

Aside from Supergirl, Warner Bros. has other DC Universe films on the calendar in the coming months and years, including Clayface and the Superman sequel Man of Tomorrow<\/a>. The Brave and the Bold (featuring Batman and Robin), Swamp Thing and Wonder Woman are also in development.<\/p>\n

Supergirl will be released in theaters on Friday, June 26, 2026.<\/p>\n
