\n\tThey say no good deed goes unpunished. For Dakota Johnson<\/a>, this seemed to be literally the case when she lost an acting job by trying to be polite to everybody at an audition. <\/p>\n

\n\tThe Fifty Shades of Grey and Splitsville actress recalled an audition experience during an interview with Hits Radio (below). Johnson didn\u2019t name the project, but says she was told she lost out on the gig \u2014 where she had made it to the second round of a casting call \u2014 because she took a moment to introduce herself to everyone in the room. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI had an audition once \u2014 and it was a callback \u2014 and I went into the room, and I shook everyone\u2019s hand and introduced myself,\u201d she said. \u201cThen I did the scene and I left. The feedback I got [afterward] was that because I had gone and introduced myself and shook everyone\u2019s hand, that I was \u2018pompous,\u2019 that I was \u2018schmoozing\u2019 and that I was full of myself. And I was like, \u2018Well, what?\u2019 I didn\u2019t get the job because they said that I was \u2018cocky.\u2019 But I just had manners. It was pretty crazy.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tIt\u2019s the obvious joke to make, but: If only that role was Madame Web.<\/p>\n

\n\tJohnson is currently promoting the U.K. release of Splitsville, which premiered at Cannes last year to glowing reviews<\/a>. The indie comedy from director Michael Angelo Covino \u201cexplores the chaos following a divorce announcement, focusing on two couples and the consequences of an open marriage.\u201d The film also stars Adria Arjona, Kyle Marvin, and Covino. <\/p>\n

\n\tThe Hollywood Reporter called it \u201cthe rare indie comedy in which style matters as much as substance\u201d and the film is currently streaming on Hulu. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"They say no good deed goes unpunished.
