Ireland is in for a cold and blustery bank holiday weekend, according to forecasters.<\/p>\n
With Easter<\/a> on the way and a long weekend ahead, the conditions are so far predicted to be cold an unsettled. Strong gusty winds, the possibility of stormy conditions, wintry showers and low temperatures<\/a> may move in.<\/p>\n In the days approaching the weekend however, things are expected to remain mainly mind and bright, though a few small showers are expected. The majority of the country can expect dry conditions.<\/p>\n Alan O’Reilly <\/a>of Carlow Weather<\/a> shared a forecast update, and said that the weekend may feel “bitterly cold,” with coats needed for outdoor activities like egg hunts and brisk after-dinner walks, and the likelihood of needing to have the central heating on.<\/p>\n He said that today we can expect bright spells and a few showers, but not much rain at all. Moving into Wednesday, “we will see that rain move down from the north west, but once that clears south east we will some sunny spells following in behind and feeling a little bit warmer on Wednesday as well.”<\/p>\n Rain makes a comeback on Thursday, before things turn colder for the end of the week: “Thursday though we do see a risk of rain returning. Now at the moment doesn’t look like too much. But we could see some heavier rain Thursday night into Friday, the exact details around Friday and the weekend are still uncertain.”<\/p>\n “So if you look here at the bigger picture we can see high pressure has been to the south of us and has been nearby, however that high pressure we had hoped to move up over Ireland and as you can see here is not happening. We have low pressure systems getting powered up by the jet stream, one coming towards us Friday into Saturday, the track of that is a little bit uncertain at the moment And as you can see, another one possibly then Sunday into Monday which looks to stay northwest of Ireland.”<\/p>\n bad weather at Easter time<\/p>\n “If we look at the winds here, we can see the wind is not too strong the next couple of days, but on Friday, Good Friday, it could be very windy again, and Saturday could also be very windy, and then hopefully the worst of those winds will stay out northwest Sunday into Monday, but we do have some more windy weather to come.”<\/p>\n “If we look at the temperatures, we can the air mass over us is a little bit milder for the next of couple of days, but on Thursday, it’s gonna turn cold again, and it’s going to feel bitterly cold, I’m afraid.”<\/p>\n “Then we’re into April, but it’s still gonna feel cold. Still need a big coat, still need the heating. Especially into Easter Sunday, there is a risk of some wintry showers, believe it or not, on Easter Sunday. But there might also be some good sunny spells.
