According to reports, King Charles may be hesitant to invite Prince Harry and his family to the UK this summer due to \u201clow trust and bitter experience.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sources close to the monarch indicate that previous leaks, public statements, and media coverage have strained the father-son relationship, making reconciliation challenging.<\/p>\n

A friend of the king told the Daily Mail<\/a>: \u201cIf Harry truly wishes to see his father, he would do well to encourage his supporters to allow such matters to be discussed privately, since low trust and bitter experience in this regard remains one of the principal barriers to progress.\u201d<\/p>\n

Since stepping back from royal duties in 2020 and relocating to the US with Meghan, Harry, 41, has only met his father twice over the past two years.<\/p>\n

Despite this, recent reports indicate that he is keen to rebuild the relationship, particularly to give Charles the chance to spend time with his grandchildren, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, who have not seen him in four years.<\/p>\n

However, security remains a key concern. Since losing their taxpayer-funded protection upon stepping down as senior royals, Harry has expressed that he would not feel safe visiting the UK without armed security.<\/p>\n

A friend told The Sunday Times<\/a> that if Harry were \u201cinvited by the King, he would get a package of security that automatically kicks in.\u201d<\/p>\n

The friend added, \u201cThere are lots of scenarios to make it work, but it\u2019s all out of Harry\u2019s hands. No father would want to put their kids at any risk.\u201d<\/p>\n

Before that, Harry visited in February 2024 after learning of the king\u2019s cancer diagnosis, spending just over half an hour with him before Charles returned to Sandringham to recover.<\/p>\n

Despite the tension and fallout from his memoir \u201cSpare,\u201d Harry has expressed a desire for reconciliation.<\/p>\n

He acknowledged, \u201cSome members of my family will never forgive me for writing a book. Of course, they will never forgive me for lots of things.\u201d<\/p>\n

The duke added that he has now \u201cforgiven\u201d them and hopes to rebuild the relationship.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Harry has reportedly been cautioned that his children, Archie and Lilibet, are unlikely to hold any official position within the Royal Family until he reconciles with his brother and heir, Prince William.<\/p>\n

Sources suggest that even if Harry returns to the UK once security arrangements are finalized, Meghan Markle\u2019s unpopularity could complicate the Sussexes\u2019 reintegration, which may in turn impact their children\u2019s future within the monarchy.<\/p>\n

Unlike their cousins, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, who were raised amid royal traditions in Windsor, Archie and Lilibet have grown up largely away from royal life in Montecito, California, appearing mostly through Meghan\u2019s social media.<\/p>\n

Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams noted, \u201cHarry will undoubtedly be back in the UK now he has got his security sorted, which paves the way for Meghan coming over, but she is hugely unpopular, so it is difficult to see how Archie and Lilibet would fit in with the family in the future.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhether they would ever want a role \u2014 and whether the Palace would welcome it \u2014 depends entirely on what happens between their father and the king in the years ahead. Right now, that bridge looks a long way from being rebuilt,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Royal author Phil Dampier further observed that the Wales children have developed close bonds with Zara and Mike Tindall\u2019s children, leaving Archie and Lilibet more isolated. Even milestone events, such as Lilibet\u2019s first birthday at Frogmore Cottage, reportedly went unattended by George, Charlotte, and Louis.<\/p>\n

Dampier added: \u201cIt\u2019s something Archie and Lilibet are missing out on, and you just wonder if in years to come, when they grow up, they will start asking their parents why they are estranged from the Royal Family.\u201d<\/p>\n
