A Co Louth<\/a> grandfather has launched a fundraiser after his home was violently attacked by a group of youths armed with hammers and travelling on e-scooters<\/a> earlier this year.<\/p>\n Alan Murray said the incident occurred on January 31 at around 4.30pm on the Donore Road, in Drogheda<\/a>, when the group allegedly targeted his home, smashed windows and caused significant damage to the property.<\/p>\n He said he was relieved that his young grandson was not in the house at the time of the attack.<\/p>\n The attack left the family facing more than \u20ac1,175 in costs for emergency boarding, home repairs and damage to car windows, none of which was covered by insurance.<\/p>\n Launching a GoFundMe<\/a> to raise the money to try and rebuild a sense of safety in their home, Alan said the financial strain has been difficult, but the emotional toll on his family has been far worse.<\/p>\n “More than anything, it’s the impact on my family and grandson that hurts the most. No child should have to go through that,” he said on the GoFundMe page.<\/p>\n Damage caused to Mr Murray’s plan<\/p>\n The fundraiser has so far raised less than 10 per cent of its \u20ac450 target.<\/p>\n He is also appealing to local residents for assistance, asking anyone living along the Donore Road area, particularly near the Tesco Extra side, to come forward with CCTV footage from the time of the incident.<\/p>\n The appeal has urged the public to support the family in any way possible, whether through donations or by sharing the fundraiser to help reach a wider audience.
