ChristianaCare<\/a> plans to build a new advanced rehab facility on Red Mill Road in the Newark area.<\/p>\n

The Delaware Health Resources Board has approved a proposal for ChristianaCare to partner with the Onix Group<\/a> to build and operate a 73- bed facility. It would serve about 1,000 more patients each year.<\/p>\n

ChristianaCare said this would be a $75-million investment. The existing space at the Center for Rehabilitation at Wilmington Hospital will be repurposed.<\/p>\n

As one of the highest-quality programs in the region, these services are in high demand, but our ability to grow has been constrained by the space limitations in Wilmington Hospital,”\u00a0ChristianaCare\u2019s Medical Subspecialties service line clinical leader\u00a0Bradley Sandella, D.O., MBA said. “This new facility will enable us to expand access to care in a new state-of-the-art facility that’s designed specifically for the experts at our Center for Rehabilitation and the patients they care for.\u201d<\/p>\n

Groundbreaking is expected to take place in early 2027,\u00a0and the facility is expected to be open in 2028.<\/p>\n
