POINT was an okay starting word, but CRAPE (the tree, not the crepe the food) slashed my 100 words down to just 3. I went with SWAMP because swamps are cool and spooky and make for really difficult levels in video games. Lucky for me, that was the Wordle!<\/p>\n

Swamp comes from Middle English swampe, probably from Old English swamm \u201cfungus, sponge,\u201d from Proto-Germanic *swammaz. The sense shifted to \u201cboggy ground\u201d due to the spongy, wet nature of such land.<\/p>\n
