Jamie Dimon<\/a> says AI will make life better for the next generation \u2014 and young people can set themselves up for success by honing certain skills.<\/p>\n

JPMorgan’s CEO predicted during a recent CBS interview that 30 years from now, people will “probably be working 3.5 days a week.”<\/p>\n

“They’ll probably live until 100, and a lot of the diseases that afflict a lot of us, they won’t get,” Dimon continued. “There’ll be cures for cancer<\/a>, cars will be safer, planes will be safer.”<\/p>\n

The next generation will be able to “hike more” and “do all the things” that people today don’t have time to do, he added.<\/p>\n

“The risk is if it’s too fast,” Dimon said, flagging the possibility of AI causing painful upheaval<\/a> in the job market.<\/p>\n

He said that governments, businesses, and other stakeholders need to work together to find solutions to those issues if they crop up, as “to cry in spilled milk isn’t going to fix it.”<\/p>\n

Asked how a young person can get ahead in the AI era, Dimon offered several recommendations.<\/p>\n

“Learn to think,” he said. “Talk to everybody. Have deep curiosity about the world.”<\/p>\n

Communication, teamwork, and emotional intelligence are also key, he said, adding that having a work ethic and purpose helps too.<\/p>\n

“Their lives are going to be more complex than ours were,” Dimon said, predicting future workers will have a greater number of jobs over the course of their careers.<\/p>\n

Dimon made a similar prediction<\/a> about AI in the fall of 2023.<\/p>\n

“Your children will live to 100 and not have cancer because of technology and they’ll probably be working three and a half days a week,” he told Bloomberg at the time.<\/p>\n

Other business leaders have made grand predictions about how technology will change the way people live.<\/p>\n

Bill Gates<\/a> said during an interview last year that making it cheap and easy to access intelligence could help address problems such as a shortage of doctors.<\/p>\n

But the Microsoft cofounder said it was unclear what those changes would mean for human workers.<\/p>\n

“What will jobs be like \u2014 should we just work two or three days a week?” he asked.<\/p>\n

Elon Musk<\/a>, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, has said that work would eventually become “optional” like “playing sports or a video game.”<\/p>\n
