Michael Kelley was remanded in custody for a further two weeks at Tralee District Court\n<\/p>\n

The American man, who has been charged with the murder of Kenmare farmer Mike Gaine, was remanded in custody for a further two weeks at Tralee District Court this morning, Wedneday, April 1. <\/p>\n

Michael Kelley appeared by video link from Cork Prison.<\/p>\n

In late February, the former soldier was charged with the murder of Michael Gaine at the victim\u2019s farm in Carrig, Kenmare between March 20 and 21, 2025.<\/p>\n

On camera at the hearing in Tralee this week, Mr Kelley wore a forest green polo shirt, had shaved off his long grey hair and trimmed his beard.<\/p>\n

He greeted his solicitor Pat Mann, confirmed his name and that he could see and hear the court.<\/p>\n

Sergeant Chris Manton asked that Mr Kelly be remanded in bail for a further two weeks to prepare the book of evidence.<\/p>\n

Mr Mann consented \u201cjust for the time being\u201d, noting he was waiting on further documentation so he could proceed with preparing a bail application for the High Court and said \u201cthere may well be objections at a later stage\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cDocumentation is about to arrive,\u201d said the solicitor.<\/p>\n

The case was adjourned to April 15 when Mr Kelly will again appear by video link.<\/p>\n

At the end of the hearing, Mr Kelly thanked his solicitor.<\/p>\n

\u201cThank you, sir,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
