The public are being urged to seek medical help elsewhere if possible<\/p>\n

If you – or someone you know – are waiting on major operations such as hip and knee replacements, ACL repairs, gallbladder removals, or hysterectomies – then this is information you need to know.<\/p>\n

A survey of up to 62% shows that Cork people are unaware that fast, fully covered healthcare is just a few hours away.<\/p>\n

It’s a scheme run through the Northern Ireland Planned Healthcare Scheme (NIPHS), where people living in the Republic can get some medical treatments in the North – and can claim up to 100% reimbursement from the HSE.<\/p>\n

There will be a series of open days where people can talk to health professionals in West Cork, Macroom, and Blarney. These are being run by the private health group Kingsbridge Private Hospital.<\/p>\n

Right now, in the republic, waiting lists for gallbladder removal and knee replacements are over one year, and for ACL surgery, up to 18 months. These are some of the many treatments that can be done much quicker if you’re willing to travel.<\/p>\n

Cork residents can attend one of the free information sessions on January 8th and 9th in the following locations:<\/p>\n
