\u201cWe should start with Halle [Bailey], because the reason I did the movie was Halle,\u201d Reg\u00e9-Jean Page<\/a> tells RT Awards Editor and Seen on the Screen<\/a> podcast host Jacqueline Coley. \u201cHalle has a certain disarming soft cuteness that we don\u2019t often get to see in Black relationships on screen, we don\u2019t get to see us have our cute little trip to Tuscany and our cute little love story, and being embraced by the world. [\u2026] That\u2019s a movie I haven\u2019t seen.\u201d<\/p>\n

Indeed we don\u2019t. It\u2019s not often we get a Love Jones<\/a>, How Stella Got Her Groove Back<\/a>, or Brown Sugar<\/a>, but producer Will Packer<\/a> (Girls Trip<\/a>, Straight Outta Compton<\/a>) hopes to change that with Halle Bailey<\/a> and Page in the rom-com You, Me & Tuscany<\/a>. The film follows Anna (Halle Bailey), who has a chance encounter with a handsome Italian man, Matteo (Lorenzo de Moor<\/a>), and plans to crash at his Tuscany villa without his permission. But things become complicated when she sparks up a romance with Matteo\u2019s cousin, Michael (Reg\u00e9-Jean Page), after telling Matteo\u2019s family that she\u2019s engaged to Matteo.<\/p>\n

\u201cI feel the same [as Reg\u00e9-Jean Page],\u201d Bailey added. \u201cWe had been put in these big roles and people see us as these Black leaders, where they find joy in the art that we\u2019re creating, and us being happy together and joyful. [\u2026] It\u2019s a story of joy that doesn\u2019t have to be centered on struggle and drama.\u201d<\/p>\n
