RT\u00c9 Raidi\u00f3 na Gaeltachta (RnaG) will next week feature two Donegal women who were born in Mother and Baby Homes.<\/p>\n
In C\u00e9 M\u00e9 F\u00e9in? on Tuesday, Barrsc\u00e9alta presenter Michelle NicGrianna will speak to Ann U\u00ed Chn\u00e1imhs\u00ed from Gaoth Dobhair and Patricia Herald from Loch an I\u00fair. Both women were born in Mother and Baby Homes and set out to find out who they are, where they came from, and about their identities as they grew older.<\/p>\n
Ann\u2019s daughter, Edel, also features in this programme, and describes the support she gave her mother in finding information about her family.<\/p>\n
Patricia Herald began searching for information about her family when she was eighteen years old. She says in the programme: \u201cWhen I was eighteen, I used to say to myself, who am I\u2026 who am I\u2026 my father had been dead for three months when I found out who my father was\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n
Ann U\u00ed Chn\u00e1imhs\u00ed speaks about the difficulties she had in getting information from the authorities about her family.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf anyone came in, it would be said that I was from the home; I didn\u2019t question anything at the time\u2026 I started writing to Dublin in the seventies trying to get some kind of explanation\u2026 it was extremely difficult to get information\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n
