As part of the broadcaster\u2019s drive to reinforce 2FM as \u201cthe original and collective voice of young Ireland\u201d, several changes will be rolled out next month that will introduce some new faces.<\/p>\n

RT\u00c9 said the move was based on \u201cextensive listener research\u201d into what younger audiences prefer.<\/p>\n

2FM Breakfast \u2013 hosted by Carl Mullan, Roz Purcell and Aisling Bonner \u2013 will extend by an hour until 10am after normally running from 6am to 9am.<\/p>\n

Doireann Garrihy will return to the station after maternity leave with a new two-hour show 2FM Morning with Doireann Garrihy airing at 10am.<\/p>\n

Her 2FM Drive slot will now be filled by Laura Fox and The Six O’Clock Show host Katja Mia from 3pm.<\/p>\n

2FM Afternoon will be presented from the station\u2019s Cork studio by Demi Isaac and Mikey O\u2019Reilly from the Dublin studio at 12pm, with both receiving the gig following an expressions-of-interest competition across the station last year.<\/p>\n

Beta Da Silva will play the most popular tunes from the charts and will discuss the nation\u2019s busy live event schedule from the 6pm slot.<\/p>\n

Confirming that Clifford will no longer present her show 2FM Afternoon with Tracy Clifford after more than a decade on air, RT\u00c9 said in a statement that she \u201cvery much remains part of the RT\u00c9 family and details will be announced in due course\u201d.<\/p>\n

Station head Dan Healy thanked her for doing a \u201cphenomenal job\u201d over the last decade.<\/p>\n

In an Instagram post, Clifford said the last decade had been a \u201cprivilege\u201d.<\/p>\n

“After more than a decade \u2013 \u2018The Big Tune Afternoon\u2019 with me, Tracy Clifford, is coming to an end over the next few weeks,\u201d she wrote.<\/p>\n

“We\u2019ve had it all! The most incredible guests, amazing Studio 8 sessions, Panic! Playing the best new Irish music, Ten Tune Tracy (my only talent) getting out on the road\u2026 I think we\u2019ve been to every festival in Ireland at this stage! And let\u2019s not forget the daily ribbing from Showbiz and Two foot head D.O.B!<\/p>\n

“But more than anything, it\u2019s been about chatting to YOU, our listeners, every single afternoon.\u201d<\/p>\n

Revelaing that she has been feeling “a little nudge\u201d to break away from the job that \u201casks a lot, professionally and personally\u201d, Clifford said she was ready to take on a new challenge.<\/p>\n

“I\u2019m staying within the RT\u00c9 radio family (more on that soon ) and I\u2019m dipping a toe into telly!,\u201d she said<\/p>\n

She also said that she would appear on tonight\u2019s The Six O\u2019Clock Show on Virgin Media speaking to hosts Brian Dowling and Arthur Gourounlian, who is filling in for Katja Mia.<\/p>\n

She sent her best wishes to her replacements Demi Isaac and Mikey O\u2019Reilly and complimented the duo\u2019s \u201cunmistakable spark\u201d.<\/p>\n

“Thank you for always being part of this with me. I\u2019m so proud of it. Always,\u201d she said, addressing her audience.<\/p>\n

Mr Healy said that the new schedule would be \u201ctruly reflective of the audiences we serve\u201d.<\/p>\n

RT\u00c9 director of audio Patricia Monahan said the changes were just another part of the broadcaster\u2019s reimagination of its audience focus.<\/p>\n

“This new and fresh 2FM schedule is a central part of our ongoing focus on delivering more to audiences as we continue to implement RT\u00c9\u2019s audio strategy.<\/p>\n

“Connecting with and entertaining younger audiences across Ireland, with spontaneous chat, infectious energy, and great music, including the Irish artists they love are central to what 2FM is about.<\/p>\n
