Tiger Woods<\/a> said he was \u201cjust talking to the president\u201d on the phone following his car crash, according to bodycam footage released by Florida<\/a> police.<\/p>\n

The bodycam footage shows Woods informing a police officer that he was on the phone with \u200cUS \u200cpresident \u200bDonald Trump<\/a> shortly after his crash.<\/p>\n

\u201cThank you so much. All right. You got it. Bye,\u201d Woods said as he walked over to an officer who had beckoned him \u2060back to the crash scene, informing them that \u201cI was \u200bjust talking to the president.\u201d<\/p>\n

Fifteen-time major winner Woods (50) was arrested after escaping unhurt from the incident in which he clipped a trailer he was attempting to overtake and rolled his Range Rover.<\/p>\n

He was charged with driving under the influence, property damage and refusal to submit to a lawful test following last week\u2019s incident on Jupiter Island, Florida.<\/p>\n

Woods was arrested and spent eight hours in custody on Friday before being bailed.<\/p>\n

Martin County court documents showed Woods formally skipped an initial court appearance on Tuesday, but entered a written plea of not guilty via his lawyers and demanded a jury trial.<\/p>\n

The US president told reporters following the crash: \u201cI feel so badly. He\u2019s got some difficulty. He\u2019s a very close friend of mine, he\u2019s an amazing person, an amazing man.\u201d<\/p>\n

Woods is dating Vanessa Trump, \u200bthe ex-wife of the president\u2019s oldest child, Donald Trump Jr.<\/p>\n

In further bodycam footage, Woods described looking down at his phone before feeling a \u201cboom\u201d as he crashed his car.<\/p>\n

The footage shows Woods, wearing sunglasses, on his knees being assessed for any injuries on a grass verge close to the crash site at a junction.<\/p>\n

He described the moment he crashed by saying: \u201cI look down at my phone and all of a sudden … boom.\u201d<\/p>\n

When asked if he was comfortable, Woods replied: \u201cYeah, yeah.\u201d He was then told by the police officer that he would be checked over by a doctor.<\/p>\n

The officer then walked over to speak with the driver of the other vehicle, which was towing a trailer, with Woods\u2019s black Range Rover flipped on its side at the junction of a narrow side road.<\/p>\n

The driver of the other vehicle, who was also unhurt, is reported to have said he was stationary in front of Woods\u2019s vehicle at the time of the collision.<\/p>\n

More footage shows Woods undergoing various sobriety tests and two hydrocodone pills \u2013 a prescription opioid used to treat severe pain \u2013 were found in his pocket during a search.<\/p>\n

When asked by a police officer how much he had to drink today, Woods replied: \u201cNone.\u201d<\/p>\n

When asked if he was taking any medication, he replied: \u201cI take a few, yes.\u201d Woods added that he had taken all his medication earlier that morning.<\/p>\n

After his sobriety tests, Woods was handcuffed and told by the officer: \u201cAt this time I do believe that your normal faculties are impaired and you\u2019re under an unknown substance, so you are under arrest for a DUI.\u201d<\/p>\n

It was the fourth occasion Woods has been involved in a motoring incident since 2009.<\/p>\n

He has undergone numerous surgeries throughout his career, many to the leg and ankle, since suffering multiple injuries in a serious crash in 2021.<\/p>\n

Prior to the incident, there had been speculation over whether Woods might play at the Masters \u2013 an event he has won five times \u2013 next week.<\/p>\n

On Thursday night, Trump announced during a Fox News \u200cinterview that Woods would not be playing in this \u200byear\u2019s Masters, something that Woods had not yet announced publicly.<\/p>\n
