{"id":382642,"date":"2026-04-05T04:14:19","date_gmt":"2026-04-05T04:14:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/382642\/"},"modified":"2026-04-05T04:14:19","modified_gmt":"2026-04-05T04:14:19","slug":"cystic-fibrosis-ireland-calls-on-kildare-to-support-65-roses-day-2026","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/382642\/","title":{"rendered":"Cystic Fibrosis Ireland calls on Kildare to support 65 Roses Day 2026"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Cystic Fibrosis Ireland (CFI) has called on people throughout County <a href=\"https:\/\/www.leinsterleader.ie\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Kildare<\/a> to support 65 Roses Day 2026.<\/p>\n<p>The 65 Roses fundraiser\u00a0stems from how young children often pronounce &#8220;Cystic Fibrosis&#8221; and its objective is to raise vital funds for CF services and supports throughout Ireland.<\/p>\n<p>Volunteers across the country will be selling purple roses in Dunnes Stores branches, shopping centres and other participating outlets in order to support CFI.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.leinsterleader.ie\/news\/local-news\/2051657\/new-highperformance-firefighting-ppe-launched-for-kildare-fire-service.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">READ NEXT:\u00a0New high\u00a0performance firefighting PPE launched for Kildare Fire Service<\/a><\/p>\n<p>For this year&#8217;s iteration of the event, CFI aims to meet its fundraising target of \u20ac300,000.<\/p>\n<p>Some Kildare outlets that will participate in 65 Roses Day 2026 will include:<\/p>\n<p> Dunnes Stores: Clane<br \/>\n Dunnes Stores: Maynooth<br \/>\n Dunnes Stores: Naas<br \/>\n Dunnes Stores: Newbridge<br \/>\n The Whitewater Shopping Centre, Main Street, Newbridge<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.leinsterleader.ie\/news\/local-news\/2051503\/photos-shock-as-watches-worth-9-000-stolen-from-kildare-home.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">READ NEXT:\u00a0PHOTOS: Shock as watches worth \u20ac9,000 stolen from Kildare home<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Cystic Fibrosis (CF) is an inherited condition that affects multiple systems including breathing, digestion and reproduction.<\/p>\n<p>Ireland has the highest rate of CF per capita in the world, with more than 1,400 people are living with CF, 33 new cases diagnosed each year and many people living with the most severe forms.<\/p>\n<p>There is no cure for CF, and it often becomes more severe over time.<\/p>\n<p>Thanks to multidisciplinary care and the introduction of modulator therapies, many people with CF are living well into adulthood.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>However, as people age, new challenges can emerge, including CF\u2011related diabetes, osteoporosis and an increased risk of colorectal cancer.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.leinsterleader.ie\/news\/local-news\/2051571\/unfair-concern-that-increasing-school-transport-fees-will-hit-kildare-families-hard.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">READ NEXT:\u00a0&#8216;Unfair&#8217; &#8211; Concern that increasing school transport fees will &#8216;hit Kildare families hard&#8217;<\/a><\/p>\n<p>INVESTMENT<\/p>\n<p>According to CFI, the organisation is investing in research to better understand the emerging issues and to provide essential supports to those affected by CF.<\/p>\n<p>These measures include:\u00a0<\/p>\n<p> &#8220;A dedicated information and support line offering guidance, reassurance and advice&#8221;<br \/>\n &#8220;Targeted financial assistance through a range of grants that help ease the cost of living with CF&#8221;<br \/>\n &#8220;Monthly online peer\u2011support groups that connect people with CF and strength the community&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>One person encouraging people throughout Kildare and beyond to go out and support CFI on 65 Roses Day this year is Kildare resident Elise Wickham.<\/p>\n<p>She explained: &#8220;15 years ago, my beautiful sister, Aislinn, passed away from CF.
