{"id":382960,"date":"2026-04-05T09:38:09","date_gmt":"2026-04-05T09:38:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/382960\/"},"modified":"2026-04-05T09:38:09","modified_gmt":"2026-04-05T09:38:09","slug":"thousands-of-homes-and-businesses-without-power-across-ireland-the-irish-times","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/382960\/","title":{"rendered":"Thousands of homes and businesses without power across Ireland \u2013 The Irish Times"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph free \">About 4,500 homes, farms and businesses across the country are without power as a result of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/environment\/2026\/04\/03\/ferry-and-rail-passengers-warned-of-disruption-as-storm-dave-approaches\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/environment\/2026\/04\/03\/ferry-and-rail-passengers-warned-of-disruption-as-storm-dave-approaches\/\">Storm Dave<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph free \">A status orange wind warning was in place for Co <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/wexford\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/wexford\/\">Wexford<\/a> and coastal areas from Kerry to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/ireland\/dublin\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/ireland\/dublin\/\">Dublin<\/a> on Saturday evening as the storm brought damaging gusts in places. A status yellow warning had been in place for the rest of the country.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph free \"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/esb-networks\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/esb-networks\/\">ESB Networks<\/a> said its crews are mobilised in impacted areas and responding to power outages wherever it is safe to do so. The electricity supplier apologised to all impacted for the inconvenience caused.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph free \">\u201cIf you come across fallen wires or damaged electricity network, never ever touch or approach these as they are live and extremely dangerous. Photograph: Chris Maddaloni <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph free \">Strong winds associated with Storm Dave led to 17 flight cancellations at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/dublin-airport\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/dublin-airport\/\">Dublin Airport<\/a> on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph free \">As of 8.30pm, the airport reported there had been 53 go arounds and 13 diversions due to challenging wind conditions.
