{"id":383274,"date":"2026-04-05T14:10:14","date_gmt":"2026-04-05T14:10:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/383274\/"},"modified":"2026-04-05T14:10:14","modified_gmt":"2026-04-05T14:10:14","slug":"chinese-firms-trail-us-peers-in-ai-adoption-due-to-corporate-culture-ex-openai-executive","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/383274\/","title":{"rendered":"Chinese firms trail US peers in AI adoption due to corporate culture: ex-OpenAI executive"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Traditional <a target=\"_self\" class=\"e1yy41x40 ef9u0v01 css-1ankfgb ecgc78b0\" href=\"https:\/\/www.scmp.com\/news\/people-culture\/trending-china\/article\/3339742\/china-office-workers-run-bond-peers-clients-pressured-meet-speed-expectations?module=inline&amp;pgtype=article\" title=\"\" data-qa=\"BaseLink-renderAnchor-StyledAnchor\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">corporate culture<\/a> and hierarchies are slowing down <a target=\"_self\" class=\"e1yy41x40 ef9u0v01 css-1ankfgb ecgc78b0\" href=\"https:\/\/www.scmp.com\/economy\/china-economy\/article\/3346475\/chinas-ai-adoption-may-limit-economic-fallout-its-rapidly-ageing-population-analysts?module=inline&amp;pgtype=article\" title=\"\" data-qa=\"BaseLink-renderAnchor-StyledAnchor\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">artificial intelligence adoption<\/a> in Chinese enterprises, leaving them trailing their US peers, even as China\u2019s savvy consumers embrace AI agents at a breakneck pace, says Zack Kass, former head of go-to-market at OpenAI.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">China has a very \u201ctechno-centric consumer\u201d, while the US has a very \u201ctechno-centric enterprise\u201d, Kass told the South China Morning Post in a recent interview.<\/p>\n<p>Highlighting this contrast, Kass said typical <a target=\"_self\" class=\"e1yy41x40 ef9u0v01 css-1ankfgb ecgc78b0\" href=\"https:\/\/www.scmp.com\/tech\/tech-trends\/article\/3348829\/openclaw-deepens-china-footprint-through-native-tencent-bytedance-integrations?module=inline&amp;pgtype=article\" title=\"\" data-qa=\"BaseLink-renderAnchor-StyledAnchor\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Chinese consumers were more tech-savvy<\/a> than their American counterparts, showing enthusiasm for emerging innovations largely absent in the US market. He attributed this positive relationship with technology to its role in lifting the country out of poverty and building the nation\u2019s middle class.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">Kass worked at OpenAI from 2021 to 2023, during which the company launched its groundbreaking chatbot, ChatGPT, in November 2022. He now runs his own consultancy.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">\u201cThe American consumer is far more cynical about technology and big tech,\u201d said Kass, citing anxieties over social media\u2019s impact on children and declining public trust.
