ITV Racing is back on Easter Monday with action from Kempton, Plumpton, and Fairyhouse, starting here with the Sussex Champion Handicap Chase over 2m1f. A good chance for old boy EDWARDSTONE to get another win on the board for Alan King and Tom Cannon. The 12-year-old was a lucky winner at Kempton in January and was far from disgraced in the Peterborough Chase at Huntingdon, albeit well beaten. He can outclass the field under 12 stone.<\/p>\n Back to the Flat now and the Listed Magnolia Stakes over 1m2f. Gethin is the interesting one going forward, but it\u2019s not hard to imagine DEVILS ADVOCATE will be too good on this occasion for the Gosden team and William Buick. My selection is unbeaten on the all-weather tracks and won a decent handicap at Doncaster last season before being outclassed in a Group 1 at Ascot. A more galloping track might suit, but I suspect he will just be too classy.<\/p>\n The Irish jumps action starts here with a handicap hurdle over an extended 2m5f. Wide open. The one who might have more to give is HEALYS PUB, who was an eye-catching fifth before a second at Naas and then scored at the same track last time, keeping on strongly. I suspect he will relish this distance, and he might be thrown in off 123 for Oliver McKiernan. Phillip Enirght takes the ride.<\/p>\n Here\u2019s a handicap over 1m4f. Marnier could be thrown in for Normandie Stud, but MIDNIGHT RUMBLE has a fitness advantage over many, and while he might not be the most talented of this lot, he should hit the frame for Alan King and Rossa Ryan. My hope has a good draw to work from and didn\u2019t do too much wrong at Southwell last time against a hotpot. Will be held up for a late thrust.<\/p>\n Now up in class for a Grade 2 hurdle over 2m4f. It won\u2019t be easy under 11st 12lb, but THE YELLOW CLAY was still traveling all right when stumbling and coming down after three out in the big 2m5f handicap won by Jingko Blue at the Cheltenham Festival. This will be a different test, but he was hung out wide at the Festival and had a hard trip so that the effort can be marked up, and he has back class, having finished second to The New Lion in a Turners. Jack Kennedy rides for Gordon Elliott.<\/p>\n A handicap over 6f for fillies and mares. Alpine Girl has been a non-runner in five out of her last six starts, which is a worry. I like LADY MARIKO, who runs for Dylan Cunha and has James Doyle on top. The filly ran a cracker at Ascot last season when third in a big field, and while she might prefer an extra furlong, she will finish off better than most. This is very winnable.<\/p>\n A Grade 2 Chase over 2m4f. Energumene might still have a big run in him, but on all we know, FOUND A FIFTY will be too good for Jack Kennedy and Gordon Elliott. Rated 162, my hope was pulled up in the Champion Chase at Cheltenham, but his third to Majborough in the Dublin Chase should be good enough. None of these are that reliable, mind.<\/p>\n A handicap over 1m. There should be a good gallop here. CHAMPAGNE POWDER was given a peach by Kieran Shoemark when losing his maiden tag at Chelmsford and then ran okay when second at Chelmsford. Although down the field at Newcastle last time, his finishing position was better than the eighth suggests, and he has a chance to get across from a high draw and bully this race. Shoemark is in terrific form when he has a chance, so I hope he can dictate for Oli Cole.<\/p>\n The big betting race of the day is the Irish Grand National over 3m5f. There\u2019s no doubt The Jukebox Kid will get plenty of these off the bridle, and he\u2019s a pretty decent young horse who kept going well at Ascot last time to land the Reynoldstown. He does, though, lack a bit of experience in a race of this type. The Lovely Man would have every chance if he gets in as first reserve. So watch out for him.<\/p>\n I\u2019m praying SHOWURAPPRECIATION can keep up some good recent form even though he is up to a mark of 135 from 116 for three victories. Stamina seems to be his strong suit, and he looks like a horse that will relish this distance. Jonathan Sweeney trains, and he has a horse with a lovely racing weight of 10st 7lb.<\/p>\n A handicap over 1m. Poor stuff and CANDONOMORE might be good enough even though he\u2019s probably better at 7f. The Stuart Williams-trained runner recently moved from Tim Easterby and looked in need of this trip when third at Southwell a few runs ago. Has a fitness advantage over some.<\/p>\n So best of luck and pray for Yeeehaaas.
