\u201cWe didn\u2019t actually extend, but we did knock two walls to make an open-plan kitchen and the garage was converted to a playrooom and utility room,\u201d she says. The work was worth it, points out selling agent Sean McCarthy, of ERA Downey McCarthy, who says of the four-bed, 1992-built house: \u201cIt\u2019s a super job, a show-home standard house with the best of everything done to it.\u201d<\/p>\n
Interest has been shown from people trading up in the area, as well as from some canny first-time buyers keen on a popular location.<\/p>\n

No 18 is bounded on the right by an old stone wall that was part of the former bishop\u2019s house that is said to have given the area its name. An early 18th-century bishop did build his country residence in the area, but maybe he was drawn to the location because of its name. It was known as \u2018Ballinaspick\u2019, or Baile an Easpaig (town of the Bishop) , as early as the 1500s.<\/p>\n
The main bedroom has built-in units and an en-suite bathroom. The other bedrooms \u2014 two doubles and a single room \u2014 have built-in units. There\u2019s a Stira to the floored attic.<\/p>\n

Pocket sliding doors lead from the kitchen\/living area to the main living room, which has a raised, solid-fuel stove.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ve had a christening and birthdays here… so around 20-30 people comfortably,\u201d says the owner, adding that the morning sun hits the back of this cul-de-sac house, which means light at the front in the evening.<\/p>\n
They\u2019ve moving to be closer to family, but are full of praise for the location: within walking distance of Munster Technological University, Wilton Shopping Centre, and Cork University Hospital and the popular parkland and playground areas of Murphy\u2019s Farm.<\/p>\n
