popular bar in Cork<\/a> is closing its doors for the last time this week after over a decade in the city centre. Brick Lane on South Main Street will shut for the last time on Wednesday.<\/p>\nThe party pub was known for a menu of food, drink and cocktails in a quirky setting. It was a great spot to catch live sport and lively quiz nights. They have announced the end after 11 years, as running costs continue to pile up, even for such a well-known and busy nightlife business in the heart of the city.<\/p>\n
The over-23s venue first opened in the summer of 2015, and survived the pandemic. But as the cost of living crisis continues to bite, the “sums don’t stack up” anymore, a statement said this morning.<\/p>\n
Management thanked customers for an “amazing” journey, and said they will throw one last quiz night. The decision was made with “a heavy heart,” they wrote in a heartfelt social media post.<\/p>\n
“It\u2019s with a heavy heart that we have to tell you we are closing our doors after service on Wednesday, the 8th of April. We will have 1 last quiz night,” they wrote in a statement<\/p>\n
“It\u2019s been an amazing almost 11 years trading. Some very hard times, but also some very good times. We have made friends and memories that will forever live on,” it continues, “To the hundreds of people who have worked alongside us and to the thousands of customers, thank you for everything.”<\/p>\n
“To our suppliers, bands, musicians, DJ\u2019s and quizmaster, thank you for your support and access to your talent. Unfortunately, the sums don\u2019t stack up any more, but the memories will live on. Open every day, including Wednesday, so pop in to say goodbye!<\/p>\n
Customers flooded the comment section in shock at the announcement, with many saying they would miss the venue. One wrote: “Oh the memories\u2026. Sad to hear this but best of luck going forward.”<\/p>\n
Another added: “That\u2019s heartbreaking. Brick was our go to for Cocktails and giggles. The best Spicy Margs in Ireland. So truly sorry to hear this.” A third wrote: “Sorry to hear this! Always a great bar with exceptional food!
