{"id":384702,"date":"2026-04-06T13:21:09","date_gmt":"2026-04-06T13:21:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/384702\/"},"modified":"2026-04-06T13:21:09","modified_gmt":"2026-04-06T13:21:09","slug":"motorists-warned-as-fuel-price-protests-may-impact-dublin-commuting-routes-the-irish-times","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/384702\/","title":{"rendered":"Motorists warned as fuel price protests may impact Dublin commuting routes \u2013 The Irish Times"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Motorists have been warned that a national fuel protest may bring major commuting routes into <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/dublin\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/dublin\/\">Dublin<\/a> to a standstill on Tuesday. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The protest is being organised by local activists across the country over spiralling diesel, petrol and home heating <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/oil\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/oil\/\">oil<\/a> prices caused by the ongoing war in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/middle-east\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/middle-east\/\">Middle East<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">National fuel protest assembly points involve the M1 Convoy meeting at Castlebellingham Services, the N2 Convoy at the Ardee \u2013 Carrickmacross link, N3 Convoy at Virginia Service Area\/ Clonee Side, N4 Convoy at the Enfield Services, M7 Convoy at Junction 14 and N11 Convoy at Ashfield Services North. All the convoy protests are to assemble at 7am.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Protests are also leaving locations in Cork at the same time. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Other locations where protesters are encouraged to join are at the Red Cow, Liffey Valley, M50 North Services, Bray Northbound Merge and Naas Northbound Services.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The intention is for all convoys to merge and form one large convoy into Dublin. Full details of the route will be made available by organisers on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Protests are also being encouraged at Portumna Bridge in Galway where many protesters from Clare, Tipperary, Offaly and Galway are expected to assemble.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">An online statement from Athlone Stands Together explained that protesters must \u201cobey the direction of protest marshals and keep lane discipline while being mindful of the emergency services.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">\u201cConvoys will be leaving at various times between 8am and 9am.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph b-it-article-body__interstitial-link\">[\u00a0<a aria-label=\"Open related story\" class=\"c-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/your-money\/2026\/04\/04\/four-ways-the-iran-war-may-affect-your-money-bills-and-airfares\/\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Four ways the Iran war could make life more expensiveOpens in new window<\/a>\u00a0]<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Meanwhile, representatives from the Irish Road Haulage Association (IRHA) met Minister for Transport <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/darragh-obrien\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/darragh-obrien\/\">Darragh O\u2019Brien<\/a> over the weekend to discuss the ongoing impact of the Middle East crisis on fuel costs.
