{"id":385226,"date":"2026-04-06T20:33:17","date_gmt":"2026-04-06T20:33:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/385226\/"},"modified":"2026-04-06T20:33:17","modified_gmt":"2026-04-06T20:33:17","slug":"michael-healy-raes-property-firm-receives-e1-33m-for-accommodating-ukrainians-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/385226\/","title":{"rendered":"Michael Healy-Rae&#8217;s property firm receives \u20ac1.33m for accommodating Ukrainians"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A property firm owned by Minister of State and Kerry TD Michael Healy-Rae has received \u20ac1.33m in State payments for accommodating Ukrainians fleeing the <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.irishexaminer.com\/ukraine-russia\/\">war with Russia<\/a> since 2022.<\/p>\n<p>New figures provided by the Department of Migration show Mr Healy-Rea&#8217;s Roughty Properties Ltd\u00a0\u2014 trading as Rosemont House \u2014 received \u20ac113,480 for accommodating Ukrainians in 2025.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">This followed the firm receiving \u20ac1.22m in the two years and three months prior to January 1, 2025, for accommodating Ukrainians at its Tralee address.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Recently filed accounts show Roughty Properties Ltd recorded post-tax profits of \u20ac241,244 in the 12 months to the end of May 2025.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">The post-tax profits were a 36% decline on the post-tax profits of \u20ac376,048 for the prior year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">The profits last year resulted in the company having accumulated profits of \u20ac1.08m at the end of May last.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">In 2025, the Kerry TD was appointed as Minister of State at the Department of Agriculture, with special responsibility for Forestry.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">The \u20ac113,480 paid to Mr Healy-Rae\u2019s Roughty Properties Ltd last year is a tiny fraction of the \u20ac425.49m paid out to all operators providing accommodation to Ukrainians under the Government\u2019s International Protection Accommodation Service (Ipas) last year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">A spokeswoman for the Department of Migration said Roughty Properties, trading as Rosemont House, continued to provide accommodation services to the State in 2025, delivering services for a 12-month period, and remains under contract with the department to accommodate people fleeing Ukraine.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">The recently published D\u00e1il Register of Interests shows Mr Healy-Rae remains the biggest landlord in the D\u00e1il, owning 28 properties and pieces of land.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Mr Healy-Rae described his occupations, along with being a politician, as a postmaster, farmer, service station owner, plant hire owner and owner of rental properties.
