{"id":385713,"date":"2026-04-07T03:39:13","date_gmt":"2026-04-07T03:39:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/385713\/"},"modified":"2026-04-07T03:39:13","modified_gmt":"2026-04-07T03:39:13","slug":"ronan-keatings-wild-atlantic-makes-its-way-to-donegal-this-evening-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/385713\/","title":{"rendered":"Ronan Keating\u2019s Wild Atlantic makes its way to Donegal this evening"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Ronan Keating\u2019s Wild Atlantic is a new series for BBC Northern Ireland and BBC Daytime that has taken audiences on an epic journey around the west coast of Ireland &#8211; and he\u2019s in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.donegallive.ie\/search?q=Donegal&amp;idcanale=6&amp;idcanalericerca=6&amp;sortElement=data_pubblicazione,true&amp;page=1&amp;sortDefault=false\" style=\"color: #0000ff;\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Donegal<\/a> in this evening\u2019s edition.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0This surprising, fun and at times emotional series offers an insight into Ronan\u2019s childhood and family life as he also visited Cork, Kerry, Mayo and Sligo.<\/p>\n<p>As he heads northwest for this evening\u2019s episode, Ronan explores the stunning coast on his motorbike with longtime friend Terry Bradley before taking to the stage for an impromptu performance in one of Donegal\u2019s popular country music venues.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Ronan meets local craftsperson Rossa Byrne in Bundoran to learn about his unique bog oak jewellery, before heading to Local Hands in Ballyshannon to make some pieces together.<\/p>\n<p>READ NEXT: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.donegallive.ie\/video\/arts---entertainment\/2053342\/watch-donegal-singer-songwriter-sean-feeny-releases-new-single-from-debut-album.html\" style=\"color: #0000ff;\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Watch: Donegal singer-songwriter Se\u00e1n Feeny releases new single from debut album<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The last stop on the journey is Derry, where Ronan visits the Derry Walls with Diona Doherty and hits a farm to find out just what it takes to be a competitive sheepherder.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Ronan began his journey along the Wild Atlantic Way in County Cork, where he was joined by nephew Ruair\u00ed as the pair went head\u2011to\u2011head in the traditional Irish sport of road bowling.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The next stop was County Kerry, where Ronan fulfilled some sporting dreams on the hurling pitch and caught up with his brother Gary to head out for some fishing on Killarney&#8217;s Lough Leane.<\/p>\n<p>Ronan also travelled from County Mayo to Sligo where he met up with fellow boyband veteran Shane Filan of Westlife for some horse riding on Strandhill Beach. He then set sail with his nephew Conall to visit Clare Island, a special place for the entire Keating family.<\/p>\n<p>Ronan says: \u201cIt\u2019s felt really special making this series, rediscovering magical places that have meant so much to me and my family. I was 16 when I left Ireland, and there was so much of the west coast I hadn\u2019t seen. Now, I\u2019m coming home, and I can\u2019t wait for viewers to share all the laughter and tears along the way.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ronan Keating\u2019s Wild Atlantic is a BBC Northern Ireland and BBC Daytime co-commission, as part of the Hot House initiative with support from Northern Ireland Screen and Tourism Ireland. The series is produced by Alleycats TV.
