Alien<\/a>, created by screenwriters Dan O’Bannon and Ronald Shusett, launched the film series with the 1979 movie of the same name directed by Ridley Scott<\/a>, marking his first entry in the franchise<\/a>. His next two installments didn’t arrive until more than three decades later, the latter of which became his most divisive to date.<\/p>\n

As fans already know, Scott’s later entries in the franchise\u2014Prometheus<\/a> and Alien: Covenant<\/a>\u2014proved quite polarizing, as both films diverged from the franchise tradition<\/a>, though one did so more than the other. Serving as the sixth feature film in the series, Alien: Covenant was released in May 2017 as a direct sequel to Prometheus, with Michael Fassbender<\/a> starring in dual roles as David 8 and Walter 1, two synthetic androids. David is an older model and a former crew member of the ill-fated Prometheus mission, while Walter is a newer model assigned to oversee the Covenant.<\/p>\n

Almost a decade after its release, the sci-fi horror film has quietly reached a streaming milestone that may have gone unnoticed by many fans.
