John Aldridge wasn\u2019t impressed by the actions of two Liverpool players at the Etihad Stadium as the Reds\u2019 FA Cup campaign ended with a chastening defeat to Manchester City.<\/p>\n

ON\u00a0APPLE<\/a>\u00a0&\u00a0GOOGLE PLAY<\/a><\/p>\n Many of the away fans who didn\u2019t leave early vented their ire at the team\u2019s performance in the 4-0 loss, with Dominik Szoboszlai seen remonstrating with the travelling Kopites at full-time<\/a> in scenes of worrying disharmony.<\/p>\n In his latest column for the\u00a0Liverpool Echo<\/a>, Aldridge gave the Hungarian \u2013 who questioned his team\u2019s lack of \u2018fighting spirit\u2019<\/a> \u2013 some partial benefit of the doubt but admitted that the optics of that post-match exchange didn\u2019t look good.<\/p>\n Aldridge critical of Szoboszlai and Ekitike<\/p>\n The former Reds striker wrote:\u00a0\u2018I am not sure exactly what Szoboszlai\u2019s point was and maybe something was lost in translation. He is one of the few players who doesn\u2019t deserve a lot of criticism this year so I won\u2019t do that here, but it didn\u2019t look good.<\/p>\n \u2018He needs to understand that fans have every right to vent their spleen when they have just been so comprehensively outplayed the way they were against City on the day.\u2019<\/p>\n The 25-year-old wasn\u2019t the only Liverpool player called out by Aldridge, who added:\u00a0\u2018Hugo Ekitike swapping his shirt with France colleague Rayan Cherki while the game was going on was another strange one. That was unacceptable, I have to say.<\/p>\n \u2018Incidents like that point to a lack of characters in the squad, the likes of Steven Gerrard or Jamie Carragher wouldn\u2019t have tolerated that. Attitudes need to change; this is part of the wider problem at Liverpool right now.\u2019<\/p>\n
