Manchester United defender Harry Maguire has signed a new one-year contract to remain at Old Trafford beyond this summer, as he and his teammates trained at Carton House today.<\/p>\n

The centre-half is in Ireland this week as Michael Carrick’s first-team squad took part in a training camp in the Kildare venue because of a three-and-a-half week vaccuum between Premier League fixtures,as a result of the recent international window and United\u2019s early exit from the cup competitions.<\/p>\n

Maguire was in the final few months of his existing deal, but the 33-year-old, who joined from Leicester in an \u00a380m deal back in 2019, has agreed new terms that include an option for a further year.<\/p>\n

\u201cRepresenting Manchester United is the ultimate honour,\u201d Maguire said. \u201cIt is a responsibility that makes myself and my family proud every single day.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am delighted to extend my journey at this incredible club to at least eight seasons and continue to play in front of our special supporters to create more amazing moments together.<\/p>\n

Maguire has been ever-present for United since Michael Carrick took charge, helping the club rise up to third in the Premier League with a return to the Champions League now the clear objective.<\/p>\n

His form earned Maguire an England recall last month \u2013 making his first appearances for the Three Lions in 18 months when he played both friendlies at Wembley \u2013 and put him in contention for a place at this summer\u2019s World Cup.<\/p>\n

In all, Maguire has made 266 appearances for United, lifting the FA Cup and Carabao Cup with the club.<\/p>\n
