\n\tA24 has released the first trailer for \u201cThe Invite<\/a>,\u201d the Olivia Wilde<\/a>-directed film starring Wilde, Seth Rogan, Pen\u00e9lope Cruz and Edward Norton. The film is set for a limited theatrical release by the distributor on June 26.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tThe part-drama, part-comedy penned by Will McCormack and Rashida Jones, is set to follow Joe and Angela, a married couple on thin ice. \u201cWhen they invite their enigmatic upstairs neighbors for a dinner party, the night spirals into unexpected places,\u201d reads the official logline. \u201cHave they reignited the spark or lit the match that burns it all down?\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tWhen \u201cThe Invite\u201d debuted at Sundance in January, it captivated audiences and distribution companies; Vari<\/a>ety previously reported that it sparked a multi-day bidding war, which included\u00a0Focus Features, Neon, Netflix, Apple, Searchlight and Black Bear, a new distributor. Wilde received a standing ovation<\/a> at the festival following the screening.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cSeth and I both have directed films that we\u2019ve been acting in as well. Inevitably, you come to moments where you say, \u2018This was a terrible decision,\u2019\u201d said Norton in a closing Q&A. \u201cIt\u2019s hard for me to overstate the grace and wisdom with which Olivia gave that performance and directed us.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tVariety\u2019s chief film critic Owen Gleiberman even declared it a \u201cbravura dinner-party dramedy\u201d that \u201ckeeps you laughing and never stops surprising\u201d in his review<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThe Invite\u201d marks Wilde\u2019s third time as a director, following \u201cBooksmart\u201d in 2019 and \u201cDon\u2019t Worry Darling\u201d in 2023 (Wilde also acted in the latter as the character of Bunny). She also stars in \u201cI Want Your Sex\u201d from director Gregg Araki opposite Cooper Hoffman, an erotic thriller which also debuted at Sundance earlier this year.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThe Invite\u201d is produced by David Permut, Ben Browning and Megan Ellison. It will run 107 minutes and earned an R rating.<\/p>\n
