Today\u2019s fuel protests underline the very real pressures being experienced across Ireland\u2019s transport and logistics sector, as well as other key parts of the economy, according to FTA Ireland.<\/p>\n

FTA Ireland says it fully recognises the level of concern among members. In recent weeks, operators have reported sharp increases not only in diesel prices, but also across other critical inputs including AdBlue, Tyres, HVO and bioCNG. These rising costs are placing additional strain on businesses that are already operating on very tight margins.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are actively engaging with Government and relevant stakeholders to ensure that the challenges facing our sector are clearly understood and appropriately addressed. FTA Ireland has called for practical, targeted measures to support operators and to help safeguard essential freight and passenger services during this period of volatility,\u201d CEO Niall Cotton said.<\/p>\n

He continued: \u201cOngoing geopolitical developments continue to drive significant energy and fuel price uncertainty, which remains a serious concern for many members. In parallel with our engagement at policy level, we are encouraging members to focus on the following practical actions where possible.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u2013 Review fuel surcharges and energy cost recovery mechanisms
\u2013 Maintain close dialogue with fuel and service suppliers on pricing movements
\u2013 Monitor all operating inputs, not diesel alone
\u2013 Optimise routing, scheduling and vehicle utilisation
\u2013 Share evidence of unusual or unexplained price increases with the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC)<\/p>\n

FTA Ireland says it will continue to represent members\u2019 interests strongly and will keep you informed as matters develop. \u201cOur priority is to provide clear information, practical support and firm representation during this period of uncertainty.\u201d Mr Cotton concluded.<\/p>\n
