Mayo<\/a> GAA have confirmed that Ruair\u00ed Conroy is set to be appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer.<\/p>\n

The announcement was made at the April monthly meeting of club delegates and the Mayo GAA Executive in MacHale Park, Castlebar.<\/p>\n

Conroy, himself a native of Tourmakeady who has played with the club and manages the Under-16 side, is the head of Diligent Galway, the European headquarters of a global tech company that builds tools for corporate governance risk & compliance, and board management.<\/p>\n

The new CEO also has had an early career in Irish media with 98 FM and SPIN 103.8.<\/p>\n

Ahead of the revealing of the new CEO, Cultural Officer Daith\u00ed Gallagher, outlined the process to date for all those at the meeting.<\/p>\n

The new face in the hot seat\u00a0will play a central role in driving sustainable commercial development, strengthening governance structures, and enhancing support for clubs, volunteers, players, and stakeholders throughout the county.<\/p>\n

The appointment brings to an end a process that started in late November of 2025, when the County Board first issued their call for applicants<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The position carries a four-year contract, a competitive salary based on experience, and performance-linked incentives.<\/p>\n

On the week the process started, Chairman Seamus Tuohy labelled the decision to implement the CEO as\u00a0\u201ca game changer for Mayo GAA<\/a>.”<\/p>\n

\u201cIt’s there to support the clubs, to support the board,” he stated. “As we all know, it’s not sustainable depending on the volunteer to support the demands of the present County Board.\u201d<\/p>\n

In January, it was confirmed that recruitment firm Collins McNicholas had been appointed to manage the process<\/a>. The decision to include the firm was made in order to ensure that the Strategic Leadership Committee, comprising of many of the Executive, were not exposed to\u00a0<\/p>\n

At the January meeting of the County Board<\/a>, Saturday, April 11 (the date of the upcoming Mayo-London Connacht Championship game), was mooted as the date when the new CEO would be in place.<\/p>\n

Conroy is set to complete gardening leave in the coming months, with a start date of June 2 given to club delegates. He will also meet with the delegates on Wednesday, May 6<\/p>\n
