{"id":387376,"date":"2026-04-08T02:28:09","date_gmt":"2026-04-08T02:28:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/387376\/"},"modified":"2026-04-08T02:28:09","modified_gmt":"2026-04-08T02:28:09","slug":"leinster-sfc-semi-finals-to-remain-outside-of-croke-park","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/387376\/","title":{"rendered":"Leinster SFC semi-finals to remain outside of Croke Park"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>For the second year in succession Leinster GAA has decided to stage its senior football semi-finals outside of Croke Park.<\/p>\n<p>Last year saw Leinster GAA switch both provincial semi-finals outside of GAA HQ.<\/p>\n<p>That change was the first occasion since 1995 that both provincial last-four encounters were not played at GAA headquarters.<\/p>\n<p>The 2024 Leinster semi-final doubleheader attracted just over 21,000 at Croke Park making it the lowest attendance for that stage of the competition for 14 years.<\/p>\n<p>Leinster Council looked at recent semi-finals and factoring in a lack of an atmosphere, they chose to move provincial grounds.<\/p>\n<p>The Dublin and Meath affair in Portlaoise was played in front of 10,000 and resulted in a huge championship shock.<\/p>\n<p>In Tullamore, almost 7,000 watched as Louth beat Kildare to earn them a third Leinster final slot on the trot for the first time since 1914.<\/p>\n<p>Then a bumper crowd of 65,000 turned up for the final, a significant jump on the 23,113 that attended the 2024 decider between the Dubs and Louth.<\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s semi-finals will be played at Glenisk O\u2019Connor Park and Laois Hire O\u2019Moore Park on the first weekend of May.<\/p>\n<p>Both venues could also host quarter-finals in mid-April as could Cedral St Conleth\u2019s Park and Echelon Park in Aughrim.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"For the second year in succession Leinster GAA has decided to stage its senior football semi-finals outside of&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":387377,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[9],"tags":[61,60,112],"class_list":{"0":"post-387376","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-sports","8":"tag-ie","9":"tag-ireland","10":"tag-sports"},"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/387376","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=387376"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/387376\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/387377"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=387376"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=387376"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=387376"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
