{"id":387429,"date":"2026-04-08T03:11:10","date_gmt":"2026-04-08T03:11:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/387429\/"},"modified":"2026-04-08T03:11:10","modified_gmt":"2026-04-08T03:11:10","slug":"man-released-after-arrest-over-attempted-murder-of-charles-dooher-last-year-the-irish-times","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/387429\/","title":{"rendered":"Man released after arrest over attempted murder of Charles Dooher last year \u2013 The Irish Times"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">A man aged in his 50s has been released after his  arrest in connection with the alleged attempted murder of Charles Dooher (20s), who was assaulted at his home in Co <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/donegal\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/donegal\/\">Donegal<\/a> in January last year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The man was arrested on Sunday, April 5th and detained at a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/an-garda-siochana\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/an-garda-siochana\">Garda<\/a> station in the North Western Region under section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act, 2007. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">He has since been released, and a file was prepared for the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">On January 20th, 2025, five masked men entered Dooher\u2019s home in Lifford and assaulted him with metal bars.
