An American woman who moved to Ireland eight years ago has detailed seven aspects of life that have been “ruined” for her after living in the Emerald Isle for so long<\/p>\n

An American woman who moved to Ireland has listed seven things the country has \u201cruined\u201d for her after eight years of living there<\/a>. Ireland is known and loved for many things, from its dramatic, rugged and varied landscapes like the Cliffs of Moher and the scenic beauty found along the famed Wild Atlantic Way<\/a>, to its cosy and traditional pubs, vibrant music scene, and plenty more.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s an ideal mix of history and culture, with cities like Galway<\/a> offering a bohemian atmosphere, while Dublin<\/a> is one for the history buffs. Tosin Cullen moved to the country from America and has adapted to the noticeable differences in life in the Emerald Isle.<\/p>\n

She\u2019s documented her experiences on social media, with a recent Instagram post detailing seven elements of life in Ireland which have forever changed her<\/a>. The post is made up of a carousel of images with text added over the top offering her thoughts.<\/p>\n

In the caption accompanying the post, Tosin penned: \u201cA few I forgot to mention in my initial post. Consider this the last part of my little love letter to the Emerald Isle\u201d.<\/p>\n

In the first image, she said: \u201cThings Ireland has ruined for me (as someone who has lived here for eight years)\u201d. She then began: \u201cGetting off the phone. If I don\u2019t say \u2018bye-bye-bye-bye-bye\u2019 at least six times, the call isn\u2019t over.\u201d<\/p>\n

Tosin continued: \u201cThe post-dinner cuppa: dinner isn\u2019t officially over until the kettle is on. If there\u2019s no tea, did we even eat?<\/p>\n

\u201cThe career break. Try explaining to someone outside of Ireland that you\u2019re just \u2018nipping off\u2019 for a year to find yourself and your job will be waiting.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe word \u2018grand\u2019. It no longer means money. It is a feeling, an emotion. Heartbroken? Grand. Won a free meal? Grand. In a hurricane? \u2018Ah sure, it\u2019s grand\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n

She then moved on to discuss the airport and said: \u201c\u2018Welcome home\u2019 from the immigration officer melts my heart every time. It just feels like a hug the second you land.\u201d<\/p>\n

After that, she detailed the sense of \u201ctrust\u201d abundant in Ireland. She explained: \u201cIt\u2019s kinda ruined my ability to deal with strict rules. Whether it\u2019s \u2018tap to pay\u2019 for water at the airport or the \u2018Luas is free\u2019 joke – nowhere else has that same \u2018sure it\u2019ll be fine\u2019 energy.\u201d<\/p>\n

To finish, Tosin added: \u201c\u2018N\u00edl aon tinte\u00e1n mar do thinte\u00e1n f\u00e9in\u2019 translates to \u2018there\u2019s no hearth like your own hearth\u2019 which essentially means there\u2019s no place like home.\u201d<\/p>\n

In the comments section, fellow Instagram users were keen to share their thoughts. One person said: \u201cI love this!! American here – just moved to Ireland six months ago with my husband (who\u2019s Irish).<\/p>\n

\u201cI laughed out loud about the post-dinner cuppa. As someone who has never liked tea, I now get so excited when my husband turns on the kettle after dinner. Add a biscuit and I\u2019m in heaven.\u201d<\/p>\n

Another said: \u201cI know\u2026 the \u2018welcome home from immigration\u2019 OMG every time I just want to hug them. It\u2019s so special.\u201d<\/p>\n

A third commented: \u201cThe cup\u00e1n tae after dinner is so real! I don\u2019t feel right if I don\u2019t have it. Don\u2019t think I ever thought about it this much before but I always have to have one! Haha.\u201d<\/p>\n

A fourth said: \u201cYou\u2019re one of us now girl! No turning back\u201d. Someone else shared: \u201cIreland is my favorite place on Earth!\u201d<\/p>\n

Another said: \u201cWow wow wow you have explained our island perfectly, thank you\u201d. And another added: \u201cAh this post is so lovely. I could relate to every bit of it.
