Photo: Dylan Vaughan<\/p>\n<p class=\"indo-ebe0ecc6_root indo-ebe0ecc6_paragraph indo-300db776_none indo-91174671_primary indo-1d70522a_marginbottom0 indo-1d70522a_margintop0 indo-b48c4984_inherit\" style=\"color:var(--color-primary-80)\">St. Luke\u2019s General Hospital for Carlow and Kilkenny has announced it has lifted its visitor restrictions.<\/p>\n<p class=\"indo-ebe0ecc6_root indo-ebe0ecc6_paragraph indo-300db776_none indo-91174671_primary indo-1d70522a_marginbottom5 indo-1d70522a_margintop0 indo-b48c4984_inherit\" style=\"color:var(--color-primary-80)\">Visitor restrictions had been implemented at the Kilkenny City hospital in February of this year following an outbreak of norovirus, a highly contagious virus that causes gastroenteritis, leading to vomiting, diarrhoea, nausea, and stomach cramps.<\/p>\n<p class=\"indo-ebe0ecc6_root indo-ebe0ecc6_paragraph indo-300db776_none indo-91174671_primary indo-1d70522a_marginbottom5 indo-1d70522a_margintop0 indo-b48c4984_inherit\" style=\"color:var(--color-primary-80)\">Visiting was on compassionate grounds only, with designated visitors required to wear a mask while in the wards.<\/p>\n<p class=\"indo-ebe0ecc6_root indo-ebe0ecc6_paragraph indo-300db776_none indo-91174671_primary indo-1d70522a_marginbottom5 indo-1d70522a_margintop0 indo-b48c4984_inherit\" style=\"color:var(--color-primary-80)\">However, the hospital has now reopened for visiting this week. All visitors will be asked to wear surgical masks in all clinical areas of the hospital.<\/p>\n<p class=\"indo-ebe0ecc6_root indo-ebe0ecc6_paragraph indo-300db776_none indo-91174671_primary indo-1d70522a_marginbottom5 indo-1d70522a_margintop0 indo-b48c4984_inherit\" style=\"color:var(--color-primary-80)\">Visiting times in the hospital are from 2pm to 4pm and 6pm to 8pm daily, while in the maternity unit, support partners can visit from 10am to midday and from 6pm to 8pm. <\/p>\n<p class=\"indo-ebe0ecc6_root indo-ebe0ecc6_paragraph indo-300db776_none indo-91174671_primary indo-1d70522a_marginbottom5 indo-1d70522a_margintop0 indo-b48c4984_inherit\" style=\"color:var(--color-primary-80)\">No visiting is allowed in the emergency department.<\/p>\n<p class=\"indo-ebe0ecc6_root indo-ebe0ecc6_paragraph indo-300db776_none indo-91174671_primary indo-1d70522a_marginbottom5 indo-1d70522a_margintop0 indo-b48c4984_inherit\" style=\"color:var(--color-primary-80)\">Visitors are asked not to visit the hospital if they have any symptoms of cold, flu, covid-19, or any other viral illnesses.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Visitor restrictions have been lifted at St Luke&#8217;s General Hospital in Kilkenny City.
